[Factors influencing the achievement of remission in patients with alcohol dependence and concomitant psychological disorders].

The objective of the review is to study the main factors influencing the achievement of remission in patients with alcohol dependence and alcoholism with concomitant psychological disorders. A comparative analysis of Russian and foreign publications was conducted. It has been established that the achievement of remissions and its persistence are influenced by various factors: premorbid social stability, the time of occurrence of risk factors, childhood psychiatric disorders, hereditary burden, injuries (physical and psychological), the quality of relief of the withdrawal syndrome and its delay

Frequency of remission achievement in the pre-treat-to-target decade in juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

BACKGROUND: Over the past two decades there has been a remarkable advance in the management of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), which has led to considerable improvement in prognosis. In 2018, the introduction of the treat-to-target (T2T) strategy in JIA has been advocated to further ameliorate disease outcome. To provide a benchmark for comparing future outcomes in the "T2T era", this study investigates the percentage of JIA patients who achieved clinical inactive disease (CID) in the decade that preceded the publication of the T2T recommendations in JIA. METHODS: The clinical charts of

Hospital volume is not associated with clinically meaningful PROM achievement following primary total hip arthroplasty.

BACKGROUND: As the United States healthcare system transitions toward value-based care, patient-reported outcomes (PROMs) have become central to defining surgical quality and guiding reimbursement. Under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Patient-Reported Outcomes Performance Measure (PRO-PM) initiative, hospitals are required to collect and report PROMs following total hip arthroplasty (THA). However, it remains unclear whether patients treated at high- and low-volume hospitals achieve comparable rates of clinically meaningful improvement. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed

Associations between biological maturation, physical performance, postural control, and mathematical achievement in youth soccer players.

This investigation explored relationships between biological maturation, physical and academic performance in young male soccer players. Thirty-eight players (age: 9.79 ± 1.21 years; body mass index (BMI): 20.4 ± 2.39 kg/m2; body fat: 16.8 ± 2.21%) participated. Measures of anthropometry used for body mass, body fat percentage (%BF), and BMI as well. Postural control, 15 m sprint, squat jumps and counter-movement jumps (SJ, CMJ), and T-half test for change-of-direction (CoD) were parameters of physical performance. The grade point average (GPA) of mathematics determined academic attainment. Mo

Mediating role of inhibitory control in relationships between cardiovascular fitness and academic achievement in preadolescents.

Cardiovascular fitness (CRF) has been consistently linked to cognitive performance and academic achievement, and inhibitory control has been recognized as a key predictor of academic success. However, few studies have explored whether inhibitory control mediates the relationship between CRF and academic performance in children, and the existing findings are inconclusive because of certain limitations. This study investigated the mediating role of inhibitory control in the association between CRF and academic achievement among preadolescents while also addressing the related limitations. This s

Achievement of LDL-C <55 mg/dL among US adults: Findings from the cvMOBIUS2 registry.

BACKGROUND: Reflecting clinical trial data showing improved outcomes with lower LDL-C levels, guidelines across the globe are increasingly recommending a goal of LDL-C <55 mg/dL in persons with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). What proportion of patients with ASCVD are already meeting those goals in the US remains understudied. METHODS: Using electronic health record data from 8 large US health systems, we evaluated lipid-lowering therapy (LLT), LDL-C levels, and factors associated with an LDL-C <55 mg/dL in persons with ASCVD treated between 1/1/2021-12/31/2021. Transplantation in paediatric patients with MMA requires multidisciplinary approach for achievement of good clinical outcomes.

BACKGROUND: As modern medicine is advancing, younger, small, and more complex children are becoming multi-organ transplant candidates. This brings up new challenges in all aspects of their care. METHODS: We describe the first report of a small child receiving a simultaneous liver and kidney transplant and abdominal rectus sheath fascia transplant on the background of Williams syndrome and methylmalonic acidaemia. At the time of transplantation, the child was 3 years old, weighed 14.0 kg, had chronic kidney disease stage V, and had not yet started any other form of kidney replacement therapy.

Achievement of appropriate cesarean rates using Robson's 10-Group classification system in Brazilian private practice.

BACKGROUND: Increasing cesarean section (CS) rates are a global concern because they are related to higher maternal and neonatal complication rates and do not provide positive childbirth experiences. In 2019, Brazil ranked second globally, given its overall CS rate of 57%. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), populational CS rates of 10-15% are associated with decreased maternal, neonatal, and infant mortality rates. This study aimed to investigate whether multidisciplinary care following evidence-based protocols associated with a high motivation of both women and professionals fo

Hypercholesterolemia diagnosis, treatment patterns and target achievement in patients with acute coronary syndromes in Germany.

BACKGROUND: Patients who experience an acute coronary syndrome (ACS) are at high risk of further cardiovascular events. Long-term treatment of cardiovascular risk factors, such as hyperlipidemia, is critical to prevent progression of coronary heart disease. However, many patients do not reach recommended target levels for low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, despite receiving lipid-lowering therapy. OBJECTIVE: To obtain an insight into the current treatment situation for very high-risk patients after an initial ACS in Germany. METHODS: The multicenter HYDRA-ACS registry study was initi

Evolving Techniques for the Achievement of Optimal Long-Term Results After Tetralogy of Fallot Repair.

Several techniques designed to improve long-term results after repair of tetralogy of Fallot are described. We have recently embarked on a program focused on preserving the native pulmonary valve. Here, combined techniques are described in detail, including intraoperative pulmonary valve balloon dilatation, pulmonary valve reconstruction by delamination and resuspension of the leaflets, and pulmonary valve annulus augmentation. As with any other complex congenital heart disease, senior surgeons should select teaching cases, starting from the less severe side of the spectrum.

Standards for Socially-and Achievement-Oriented Roles in Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

BACKGROUND: People with major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) have elevated trait perfectionism. We tested whether they hold perfectionistic standards for specific life roles and examined the extent to which they met their own expectations for, gained satisfaction from, and expended effort in these roles. METHODS: Seventy-four women with MDD, GAD, both disorders, or no mental disorders (CTL) described their standards for a socially- and achievement-oriented roles, coded for perfectionism. Using ecological momentary assessment, participants reported the extent

Association of age with the non-achievement of clinical and functional remission in rheumatoid arthritis.

Patient-reported outcome (PRO) is included in the remission criteria of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We aimed to determine the effect of age on PRO and the subsequent achievement of clinical and functional RA remission criteria. Three hundred and one patients with non-rheumatic diseases were evaluated using the 0-10 cm visual analog scale (VAS) assessment for musculoskeletal symptoms and a functional health assessment questionnaire-disability index (HAQ-DI). These assessments were compared with those obtained from 149 patients with RA with negative tender/swollen joint counts and normal serum C-

Genetic and Environmental Influences on Achievement Outcomes Based on Family History of Learning Disabilities Status.

A risk to develop a learning disability has been shown to run in families. Having a positive family history of learning disability seems to account for mean differences in achievement outcomes (reading, math) in that children with a positive family history score significantly lower compared to their peers with no such family history. However, the role of family history status in explaining etiological (genetic and environmental) differences among these subgroups of children has yet to be established. The present study of 872 twins (Mage = 13.30, SDage = 1.40) from the Florida Twin Project on R
