Intensive care unit (ICU) patients experience highly complex health problems, such as pain, agitation, delirium, immobility, and sleep disruption (PADIS), and require professional nursing care. The assessment of PADIS is critically important for ICU nurses, and therefore, PADIS education programs need to be conducted for these nurses to update and improve their caring knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The aims of this study are to bridge this gap by evaluating the effects of PADIS education programs on the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of these nurses, and compare the difference between nov

AIM AND DESIGN: Indigenous knowledge systems offer enduring, relational and strengths-based frameworks for health and wellbeing. This theory and framework paper critically analyses how colonial legacies embedded in nursing curricula marginalise Indigenous knowledges and perpetuate inequities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We argue that current approaches, often fragmented, tokenistic and additive in nature, fail to address the structural and pedagogical roots of unsafe cultural practices and institutional racism in nursing education.
RESULTS: In response, we present the In

BACKGROUND: Competency-based graduate nursing education expects learners to develop clinical judgment, systems thinking, and professional identity, yet few longitudinal frameworks make this progression visible in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) education. BREATHE addresses this gap.
METHOD: BREATHE was developed through iterative conceptual design grounded in the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care, deliberate practice, and situated learning, informed by national competency and certification standards. It is implemented through an existing learning management system a

BACKGROUND: Partners, parents, siblings, children, and other close supports of sexual assault survivors often experience significant emotional, psychological, relational, and physiological consequences following an assault. Although forensic nurses frequently recognize distress among these affected survivor groups, they are rarely incorporated into formal assessment, education, referral, and intervention processes.
AIM: To examine the secondary and tertiary effects of sexual assault within family systems and explore implications for forensic nursing practice.

INTRODUCTION: Nurse migration is well-established, yet most research focuses on Asian nurses migrating to Western countries. Singapore's multicultural context, with its large international nursing workforce from the Philippines, offers an intra-Asian perspective. This study examined the early adaptation of newly recruited Filipino nurses in Singapore.
METHODS: A qualitative study was conducted in a medical institution. Thirteen nurses were interviewed. Data were thematically analysed.
RESULTS: The nurses navigated Singapore's multicultural society to overcome the sociolinguistic challenges.

BACKGROUND: Nurses are integral members of the multidisciplinary cleft team, providing care throughout a child's treatment course. However, in resource-limited regions, such as sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), unique challenges can hinder the delivery of high-quality nursing care, while also presenting opportunities to advance cleft nursing practice. This article highlights the challenges nurses face and explores opportunities to improve nursing care in SSA.
METHODS: A literature review, recorded feedback from Smile Train's Nursing Care Saves Lives program (a cleft-specific nursing training program)

Urinary incontinence affects more than 50% of elderly patients in hospitals and in nursing homes. Of the estimated $16.3 billion spent annually, 90% is spent on management, whereas only 10% is spent on diagnosis and treatment. With their June 2005 release of the F315 tag, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are taking steps to change the circumstances of this disorder. This tag provides several guidelines for continence care. One of the most noticeable mandates is that of "restoring as much normal bladder function as possible." This mandate provides various novel opportunities for t

OBJECTIVES: To describe the needs and formal assessment of family caregivers and ways to intervene to alleviate distress and enhance caregiving skills in the setting of adult and pediatric leukemia.
DATA SOURCES: Literature review, clinical practice observations and experiences.
CONCLUSION: While rapid treatment advances in leukemia are a welcome development, the reliance on complex care delivered by family members across settings continues to grow and, concomitantly, so does the risk of mental, physical, and economic burden.

INTRODUCTION: Care for patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) must support all body systems. However, ICU nurses often focus on life-threatening conditions, giving less attention to other critical areas such as eye care.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to determine ICU nurses' knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding eye care.
METHOD: This descriptive study was conducted in Türkiye between 1 June 1 2024, and 15 August 2024. The sample included 210 nurses actively working in ICU settings, and data were collected using the snowball sampling method. An online survey was administered, which in

BACKGROUND: Little is known about the health and well-being of U.S. correctional nurses. To protect correctional nurses, a better understanding of organizational characteristics, job stress, and well-being must be undertaken.
METHOD: A cross-sectional design was used in the form of an online survey. Correctional nurses were conveniently recruited using national listservs and snowball sampling. Variables were measured with the Health & Safety Executive Management Standards Indicator Tool, Nurse Wellbeing Index, and the Perceived Stress Scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and

BACKGROUND: Palliative care is crucial in comprehensive cancer care, but there is limited qualitative evidence on nurses' experiences providing it to advanced cancer patients in Saudi Arabia, where cultural and religious values significantly impact end-of-life care. Gaining insight into these experiences is vital for creating tailored strategies to enhance palliative care practices and support nurses in this field.
METHODS: Nurses who provide palliative care to patients with advanced cancer took part in a qualitative descriptive study. Participants were recruited purposively. Data were collec

Background/Objectives: Oral mucositis (OM) is a common complication in onco-hematological patients undergoing chemotherapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, negatively affecting comfort, nutrition, and quality of life. Despite existing assessment tools and recommendations, OM management-particularly non-pharmacological approaches-remains inconsistent, and evidence on nurses' perspectives and contextual factors is limited. This study explored nurses' perceptions and experiences regarding non-pharmacological treatments for OM, including educational needs and barriers and facilitators

BACKGROUND: Mechanical ventilation and prone positioning are high-risk procedures for patients and health care team members, increasing patients' risk of secondary infection and pressure injuries, as well as increasing staff workload and risk of injury or contracting infectious diseases. Verticalization therapy is the practice of controlled, in-bed, upright positioning. Previous research showed increases in oxygenation during verticalization therapy, which suggests that verticalization therapy may be beneficial in patients with respiratory failure.

OBJECTIVE: Specialist advanced practice nursing in hemoglobinopathies has a rich historical and descriptive literature. Subsequent work has shown that the role is valued by patients and families and also by other professionals. However, there is little empirical research on the complexity of activity of these services in terms of interventions offered. In addition, the work of clinical nurse specialists in England has been devalued through a perception of oversimplification.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to understand the complexity of expert nursing practice in sickle cell and thala

Indigenous populations have different perceptions of mental health compared to Western medicine. Implicit bias and limited cultural awareness among healthcare professionals contribute to disparities in care, misdiagnosis, and disengagement. This article examines how historical trauma, spiritual perspectives, and systemic barriers hinder access to care for the Indigenous population. Implicit bias training can mitigate unconscious assumptions in nursing practice, influencing care delivery at the meso level and contributing to broader institutional change and health equity at the macro level. Genomic advances are rapidly transforming the understanding of health and illness, making it essential for the nursing workforce and faculty to be equipped to teach and deliver genomic-informed care. The Translation and Integration of Genomics is Essential to Doctoral NuRsing (TIGER) program, supported by the National Human Genome Research Institute, utilizes a "train-the-trainer" model to prepare doctoral nurse educators to integrate genomic content into nursing curricula, practice, and research. The TIGER program aims to build capacity among doctoral-prepared nursing faculty to champion geno

The purpose of this article is to highlight issues about diagnosis and management of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) in all settings, along with care coordination for all children with ASDs. The article outlines differences between the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition, revised (DSM-IV-TR) and the newer version (DSM-V) for ASDs. These changes may limit the eligibility of some children for services in school, leading to poorer social/academic outcomes, lower rates of employment, and decreased assistance in eventual independent
