The internal thoracic artery (ITA) has proven to be the best graft for surgical myocardial revascularization, especially in the configuration left ITA (LITA) to the anterior descending branch of left coronary artery (LAD). Its harvesting is usually accompanied by pleurotomy, followed by drainage tube placement into the pleural cavity, using the so called intrapleural method. Extrapleural technique for LITA harvesting is also practiced in many cardiac surgery centers and with this technique the pleura is left intact.

The history of psychiatric care in prisons is relatively recent, and the regional medical-psychological services - initially called regional medical-psychological centers - were established in the different regions of France from 1977 onwards. Their main missions are the prevention and treatment of mental illnesses and addictions, as well as the organization of post-prison psychiatric care. Composed of multidisciplinary teams, they offer individual or group assessments and follow-up, as well as more specific care for certain penal populations.

The COVID-19 pandemic underscores long-standing challenges to the health of persons experiencing homelessness. This case commentary considers primary care clinicians' response to a patient who declines COVID-19 testing and isolation. This article also considers other outbreaks in the United States in which the autonomy of persons with low income or persons of color was neglected and calls for community engagement, policies that center interests of marginalized groups, and economic relief, including supportive housing.

Review of 1,008 admissions over the past two years to the Detroit Medical Center Burn Unit revealed 227 patients with facial or scalp burns. Of these, 12 patients sustained burns directly as a result of accidentally igniting a hair activator product called "Jheri-Curl." Eleven patients sustained superficial partial-thickness burns and were adequately treated with Dermaide. One had deeper burns requiring split-thickness skin grafting.

PURPOSE: To describe an excimer laser ablation architecture called the pseudoaccommodative cornea (PAC) that uses ocular aberrometry and aspheric ablation profiles to create a multifocal cornea.
METHODS: A descriptive article outlining the theory of the PAC algorithm.
RESULTS: The topographic changes induced by PAC produce corneal multifocality.
CONCLUSIONS: PAC-treated eyes have progressive concentric rings of center-distance and midperipheral-near power that enable functional vision at near, intermediate, and distance.
