Acute cholecystitis due to strangulation of a floating gallbladder by the lesser omentum.

We report a unique case of acute cholecystitis due to strangulation of a floating gallbladder by the lesser omentum, which could be detected by abdominal ultrasonography. We believe this case to be the first case of reported literatures in English.

[Septate gallbladder: a rare cause of recurrent abdominal pain (RAP) in infancy. A case report].

In this report the Authors describe the case of a 3-years-old boy with a septate gallbladder and chronic abdominal pain: an uncommon clinical condition at this age. Diagnosis was confirmed by ultrasound scan and oral cholecistogram. As congenital gallbladder abnormalities may cause, although rarely, chronic abdominal pain, also in the first years of the life, they must be included in the differential diagnosis.

[Sonographic image of cholesterolosis of the gallbladder].

Cholesterolosis is the most frequent cause of polypous space-occupying growths of the gall bladder. Cholesterol polyps are visualised in sonography as usually multiple growths of 2-10 mm size, with abundant echoes and without shadows. The disease pattern is discussed on the basis of 8 sonographic images.

Gallbladder contraction as a test for vagal innervation.

A subthreshold dose of carbachol was used to test gallbladder reaction in a series of patients before operation, after truncal vagotomy with antrectomy (TA) and after parietal cell vagotomy (PCV) because of duodenal ulcer. A small but statistically significant size reduction was seen before operation, a much higher reduction after TA and after PCV, that after TA being significantly higher than after PCV. It must be assumed that after PCV a number of gallbladders is in a state of denervation.

[Acute emphysematous cholecystitis. Report of 3 cases].

Three cases of acute emphysematous cholecystitis are reported. Our experience has been that this disease, compared with the occurrence of common acute cholecystitis, is rare. The clinical picture is discussed and emphasis is made concerning the roentgenographic diagnosis and surgical findings, such as obstruction of the cistic duct, which is probable the cause of the histopathologic changes found in the gall bladder. The negative results from the culture of material obtained from the gall bladder was probably due to antibiotic administration prior to surgery. A review of the recent literature

[Alithiasic cholecystopathies. Clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects].

The frequency of alithiasic cholecystitis is considered and the various forms are subdivided into diffuse and localized dyskinesia. Symptomatology is described and the former are indicated as being electively medical and the latter surgical forms whether the condition is congenital or acquired. The various forms of cholecystosis are also distinguished with full documentation. Symptomatological techniques and diagnostic conclusions are illustrated for all forms and personal experience with their therapy reported.
