Tracheal papillomatosis is a rare and challenging condition characterized by the development of benign tumors in the trachea and bronchial tree. This case report presents a 53-year-old female with refractory papillomatosis and mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Despite three previous resections, the papilloma recurred, causing moderate tracheal narrowing and symptoms mimicking severe persistent asthma. In June 2023, the patient underwent bronchoscopy with successful tumor debulking cryosurgery, significantly improving her symptoms.

A 53 year old man presented with a giant variant of granuloma faciale, closely resembling rhinophyma. Therapeutic approaches with cryosurgery and dapsone were unsuccessful. Surgical reconstruction of the nasal skin resulted in an excellent and long lasting effect. We give a short overview of this relatively rare disease, describe an unusual manifestation and discuss the therapeutic possibilities. Surgical procedures seem to offer the best results, despite the inflammatory pathogenesis of the disease.

Twenty patients had their haemorrhoids treated by cryosurgery and were followed up for periods ranging from 6 to 18 months. The main advantages of this technique were that the periods of hospitalization and convalescence were short, reliance on an anesthetists was less, the major symptom of bleeding was eliminated and the period of postoperative discharge not as long as in other reported series. However, patients with third degree haemorrhoids tended to have a persistent skin tag and depigmentation of the perianal skin was not uncommon.

Seventy-three women experienced bilateral proximal tubal occlusion caused by adhesions or polyps arising from the uterotubal junction in at least one tube. There were no other identifiable causes of infertility. All patients were treated with cryosurgery, which restored tubal patency in 61 (83.6%). Of 45 women with restored patency, who were followed 6 to 12 months, 20 (27.4% of 73) conceived and 16 (21.9%) delivered viable babies.

The management of epistaxis in patients with hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (Osler-Weber-Rendu) is often a perplexing problem. In the past, cautery, cryosurgery, and septodermoplasty have all been used with varying degrees of success. The Candela flashlamp-pulsed dye laser was developed for management of vascular lesions (port-wine stains and telangiectasia). The results of our prospective trial utilizing this laser in the treatment of intranasal telangiectasia in patients with hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia are presented.

The histologic lesions produced in the brain by stereotactic chemosurgery and cryosurgery are reviewed in four patients who died from 25 days to 15 years postoperatively. Three of four patients had damage to the internal capsule and died of pulmonary emboli. The early lesions are histologically nonspecific, but the old lesions of chemopallidectomy and chemothalamectomy in one patient contained metaplastic bone. Lesions produced by freezing are more discrete than those made by chemical means.

Pearly penile papules (PPP) are physiological lesions in the epithelium of the corona of the glans penis which extend to its neck. These lesions may also appear on both sides of the frenulum. Although they are not pathological, the lesions frequently cause concern or embarrassment/discomfort in patients. They are the most common reason for seeing a dermatologist. There are several methods of treatment for PPP such as cryosurgery, electrocoagulation, treatment with CO2, Er:YAG, or pulsed dye lasers. This paper describes the authors' experience in removing PPP with a CO2 laser.

A 54-year-old African-American woman developed a pigmented papillary squamous cell carcinoma in the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva of the right eye in areas that received no sun exposure. In situ hybridization performed on the tumor showed human papilloma virus 16. The left eye showed a pedunculated nonpigmented conjunctival dysplasia. The tumors were extirpated by cryosurgery and topical interferon alfa 2b in the right eye and simple surgical excision in the left eye.

A 45-year-old man suffering from mitral stenosis and atrial fibrillation underwent a mitral commissurotomy and received a modified maze operation. In order to preserve the sinus node artery, we used a new incision line differing from that of Cox and introduced a cryosurgery. After the operation, atrial fibrillation disappeared. The atrial kick was also clearly observed by the echocardiogram. We think that combined operations have advantage both to cure atrial fibrillation and to deal with the mitral valve easily.

Condyloma acuminatum of the vulva was diagnosed in 165 cases, of which 117 were identified during mass screening and 48 discovered in the outpatient clinic. The gross appearance and histologic characteristics were described. The lesions were removed surgically in 5 cases, and treated with topical 5-FU ointment in 4. The remaining cases were treated by cryosurgery. A permanent cure was achieved in all cases. The authors emphasize that the importance of condyloma acuminata should not be overlooked on account of its close relationship to vulvar cancer.

Cryotherapy for treatment of genital condylomata acuminata was safely and successfully employed on 34 pregnant women in the second (4 cases) and third (30 cases) trimesters of pregnancy. No fetal, maternal or neonatal complications occurred during or following cryosurgery. No recurrences were observed before or six weeks following delivery. Cryotherapy eliminated the need for elective cesarean section in many patients with genital condylomata. Cryotherapy can be safely employed on pregnant women on an outpatient basis irrespective of the gestational period.

This paper reports five cases of intact adult male crossbreed cats presenting with myiasis caused by Cochliomyia hominivorax. Three were stray animals that died despite treatment due to the severity of lesions while two were client-owned cats previously treated with cryosurgery which completely recovered. Myiasis caused by the New World screwworm fly in cats appears to be more frequent than previously thought, deserving more attention from both veterinary practitioners and owners.

Chromoblastomycosis is a neglected tropical disease typically found in endemic tropical and subtropical regions. Herein, we discuss a rare case of a 55-year-old man in Texas who presented with an exophytic papule on the forearm, diagnosed to have chromoblastomycosis by shave biopsy and subsequent histopathological analysis. Treatment options for chromoblastomycosis include long-term oral antifungal therapy with itraconazole, physical modalities such as heat therapy in conjunction with oral antifungals, and surgical interventions such as cryosurgery or surgical excision.

Chromoblastomycosis is a chronic subcutaneous mycosis caused by traumatic inoculation of dematiaceous fungi especially in tropical and subtropical areas. Cyphellophora genus include melanized fungi reported as etiological agents of skin and nail infections. We report a 60-year-old male from the south of Mexico with a 40-year history of chromoblastomycosis caused by Cyphellophora laciniata. The isolated fungus was identified by sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer region of rDNA. The patient was treated with itraconazole and cryosurgery with unsatisfactory results.

All patients endured cryosurgical operations well. Right-sided pleurisy developed in one patient that was eliminated by single puncture of pleural cavity. Short thrombocytopenia was observed in two patients. At present the patients are under dynamic control and the signs of further tumoral growth in the liver are not revealed. According to the data of ultrasonic investigation and computer tomography the process of connective tissue organization expressiveness of which depends on time of surgical intervention was noted in the areas of hepatic tissue subjected to cryosurgery.

An unusual case of airway obstruction is presented. A 56 year old woman was admitted with stridor. She gave a history of intermittent upper airway obstruction of four years' duration. Examination revealed gross hypertrophy of the lingual tonsils extending to involve the valleculae and the entire epiglottis. Histological examination confirmed the presence of normal lymphoid tissue. The patient underwent epiglottectomy and cryosurgery to the lingual tonsils with complete resolution of symptoms. A review of the literature is presented and the investigative and treatment modalities are discussed.

Abnormal cervical cytology is being discovered in an alarming number of sexually active teen-agers. Over an 18 month period, cytology consistent with mild dysplasia or worse was noted in 188 of 2,655 teen-agers screened. This represents a rate of 70.8 per thousand. Colposcopically directed biopsies in 65 patients revealed 15 cases of severe dysplasia-carcinoma in situ. Cryosurgery was the principle method of treatment and, combined with colposcopy, is a safe and effective means of managing these patients.
