Physicochemical characteristics of seeds of some pinus species (Pinus halepensis Mill., Pinus pinea L., Pinus pinaster and Pinus canariensis) grown in North Algeria were determined. The results showed that the seeds consist of 19.8-36.7% oil, 14.25-26.62% protein, 7.8-8.6% moisture. Phosphorus, potassium and magnesium were the predominant elements present in seeds. BACKGROUND: Fragrance and preservative chemicals in cosmetic and household cleaning products are recognised causes of allergic contact dermatitis.
OBJECTIVES: To identify fragrance and preservative ingredients with potential contact allergenicity in Turkish market products.
METHODS: Labels of 245 products, including predominantly rinse-off cosmetic products and household cleaning products obtained during on-site visits to chain supermarkets were reviewed. Fragrance and preservative ingredients were scored (0-2) for reported allergen potential and summed as an 'allergen load' per product.

AIMS: Several natural products have been evaluated for management of gastric ulcer induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Safranal, a plant-derived chemical, has a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The present study was aimed to evaluate possible gastro-protective effects of safranal against indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer in rats. Lansoprazole (a proton pump inhibitor) was used as a reference drug.

The present study was designed to evaluate the chemical composition and scolicidal effects of Pistacia atlantica Desf. extract against protoscoleces of hydatid cysts and its acute toxicity in mice model. The essential oil was extracted from the seeds of Heracleum rigens by hydrodistillation and a total of twenty compounds accounting for 98.5% of the total oil composition were identified.
