Richieri-Costa and Pereira syndrome, described in 1992, comprises short stature, Robin sequence, cleft mandible, limb malformations, and short larynx, deformed or lack of epiglottis, and abnormal aryepiglottic folds. There are 32 reported cases, only one described outside Brazil. We describe a 4-month-old boy with the most severe phenotype yet reported.

We reviewed the clinical records of successive 94 patients with laryngeal cysts who were examined in the ENT clinic of Kurume University Hospital during the 10 years from 1971 to 1980. Cysts were located in the epiglottis in 48, the vocal fold in 43, and the ventricular fold in 3 patients. Published reports about polyps of larynx at the ventricular bands are extremely rare. The first symptom of this case presents recurrent hemoptysis. The video laryngoscope demonstrated that a smooth-faced and hyperemic polypoid lesion was found in the anterior part of the right false vocal cord, close to laryngeal surface of epiglottis. Postoperative pathological report revealed that the mass was a vascular polyp.

Histoplasmosis is recognized to occur in the Ohio and Mississippi River Valleys of the United States, but less widely appreciated is its worldwide distribution. We report a case of disseminated histoplasmosis with disease involving skin, lungs, and epiglottis in a renal transplant patient 6 months after a trip to Bangladesh, to highlight the potential risk of acquisition of this infection in the Indian subcontinent.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the degree of airway collapse at varying levels of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) during drug pediatric induced sleep endoscopy.

The advantages and disadvantages of various surgical lasers are discussed. Included are aspects of laser safety, anesthesia and analgesia considerations for laser surgery, and diagnostic considerations. Horses with lesions such as ethmoid hematomas, nasal polyps, and lymphoid masses are ideal candidates for laser treatment. Other conditions that are suitably treated with lasers, such as dorsal displacement of the soft palate and entrapment of the epiglottis, are described.
