Approaches to reconstructing floor of mouth defects are reviewed including methods of bony reconstruction following mandibular resection. The place of the free radial forearm flap, incorporating vascularized hemiradius if necessary, is described together with the anatomy, operative technique and a review of seven cases. It is concluded that this flap is an important addition to current methods of reconstructing substantial intraoral soft tissue defects alone or associated mandibular defects as well, owing to the high quality of results and to its low morbidity.

A woman in her mid-20s presented to an Indian tertiary care hospital with pain in her left forearm. Extensive initial investigations led to a suspected diagnosis of a peripheral nerve sheath tumour; however, the pathological investigation of the excised tumour mass revealed it to be a case of isolated intramuscular cysticercosis in the forearm. Eccrine porocarcinoma is a rare and aggressive cutaneous malignancy that develops in the seventh and eight decades of life. We present a 76-year-old male with eccrine porocarcinoma developing from a long standing previously benign lesion who underwent successful treatment with wide local excision. OBJECTIVE: Activities that require increased load bearing are known to cause bony hypertrophy. This phenomenon has been documented in the dominant arm of athletes in sports requiring significant utilization of a single limb. The literature addressing this effect in rodeo athletes, however, is minimal. Studies evaluating rodeo athletes are primarily focused on acute injury management rather than chronic symptoms resulting from changes in bone and soft tissue.
