In order to evaluate the significance of cytometric aneuploidy in molar placentas, we analyzed 197 hydatidiform moles by flow cytometry using formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues. Of 150 complete moles (CMs), 110 were diploid, 26 were tetraploid, and 14 were aneuploid (non-triploid/tetraploid aneuploid). Of 47 partial moles (PMs), 44 were triploid and 3 were diploid. We could not find any histologic differences among the diploid, tetraploid, and aneuploid CMs. We found that flow cytometric DNA analysis was very helpful to differentiate CM from PM. OBJECTIVE: To share our experiences concerning the characteristics of invasive mole (IM), including transformation and progression, its propensity to perforate, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and prognosis.
STUDY DESIGN: A cross-sectional, descriptive, analytic study, conducted at Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Bandung, Indonesia.

PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATION: This study was carried out to determine if the extremely high rate of gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) previously reported from a center in Southeast Anatolia also applied in our area.
METHODS: Records of GTD and deliveries in all hospitals in Sanliurfa during the period July 1998 to October 2003 were retrospectively studied.
