Cell Adhesion Factors in the Orbitofrontal Cortex Control Cue-Induced Reinstatement of Cocaine Seeking and Amygdala-Dependent Goal Seeking.

Repeated cocaine exposure causes dendritic spine loss in the orbitofrontal cortex, which might contribute to poor orbitofrontal cortical function following drug exposure. One challenge, however, has been verifying links between neuronal structural plasticity and behavior, if any. Here we report that cocaine self-administration triggers the loss of dendritic spines on excitatory neurons in the orbitofrontal cortex of male and female mice (as has been reported in rats). To understand functional consequences, we locally ablated neuronal β1-integrins, cell adhesion receptors that adhere cells to t

Understanding Users' App-Switching Behavior During the Mobile Search: An Empirical Study from the Perspective of Push-Pull-Mooring Framework.

With the rapid development of mobile applications (apps), various types of mobile apps have become the main channels for smartphone interaction. The user's app switching behavior in mobile search tasks has also received attention from academia. This article uses the push-pull-mooring (PPM) theoretical model to determine the three influencing factors of push, pull, and mooring that affect user's app switching behavior in mobile search. Data were collected from 374 respondents using a structural equation model. This study can deepen the understanding of app switching in user mobile search from t

Intimate partner violence and the relation between help-seeking behavior and the severity and frequency of physical violence among women in Turkey.

This study explores the severity and frequency of physical violence from an intimate partner experienced by 15- to 59-year-old women and their help-seeking behavior by using data from the "National Research on Domestic Violence Against Women in Turkey." Chi-square tests and logistic regression analyses were conducted to compare the relationship between severity and frequency of violence and women's characteristics. Of all ever-partnered women, 36% have been exposed to partner violence; almost half of these experienced severe types of violence. Women used informal strategies to manage the viole

Recurrent connectivity supports carbon dioxide sensitivity in Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

The mosquito Aedes aegypti's human host-seeking behavior depends on the integration of multiple sensory cues. One of these cues, carbon dioxide (CO2), gates odorant and heat pathways and activates host-seeking behavior. The neuronal circuits underlying processing of CO2 information remain unclear. We used automated serial-section transmission electron microscopy (EM) to image and reconstruct the circuitry of the glomeruli that are innervated by the Ae. aegypti maxillary palp, including the glomerulus that responds to CO2. Notably, CO2-sensitive olfactory sensory neurons (OSNs) make high levels

Rabies healthcare-seeking behaviors of urban and peri-urban residents: Results from a rabies knowledge, attitudes, and practices survey, Bangladesh, 2018.

Rabies is one of the most lethal infectious diseases, with those living in Asia and Africa having the highest risk of dying from rabies. We conducted a knowledge, attitudes and practices survey in urban and peri-urban areas of Bangladesh to describe canine bite rates, rabies knowledge, and healthcare seeking behaviors and barriers to human and dog vaccination. A bite risk assessment score (BRAS) and healthcare-seeking behavior score (HSBS) was calculated for each bite victim. Respondents were given two hypothetical situations to assess potential behaviors after a bite and willingness to pay fo

A Framework for Coordination between Obstetric and Pediatric Providers in Public Health Emergencies: Lessons Learned from the Zika Outbreak in the United States, 2015 to 2017.

Emergency response to emerging threats with the potential for vertical transmission, such as the 2015 to 2017 response to Zika virus, presents unique clinical challenges that underscore the need for better communication and care coordination between obstetric and pediatric providers to promote optimal health for women and infants. Published guidelines for routine maternal-infant care during the perinatal period, and models for transitions of care in various health care settings are available, but no broad framework has addressed coordinated multidisciplinary care of the maternal-infant dyad du

Claiming What Is Rightfully Mine.

Although adopted persons did not choose to be adopted, their life-long task is to come to terms with its meaning, which includes absence of important information about their family health history. Problematic encounters with health care professionals inspired contributors' narratives recognizing compelling need for accurate information about themselves as well as access to empathic and resourceful medical professionals. A key issue pervading the narratives was loss: loss of birth name and identity, loss of birth relatives and history, and often loss of birth culture. In response to this deeply

Semi-Structured Clinical Interview for the assessment of CSB (SSCI-CSB), интервью, которое собирает информацию о проявлениях, симптомах и клиническом течении КСП. Цель этого исследования состояла в том, чтобы проанализировать его надежность и обоснованность в выборке пациентов, нуждающихся в лечении некон
