Variation in Trust in Cancer Information Sources by Perceptions of Social Media Health Mis- and Disinformation and by Race and Ethnicity Among Adults in the United States: Cross-Sectional Study.

BACKGROUND: Mis- and disinformation on social media have become widespread, which can lead to a lack of trust in health information sources and, in turn, lead to negative health outcomes. Moreover, the effect of mis- and disinformation on trust in information sources may vary by racial and ethnic minoritized populations. OBJECTIVE: We evaluated how trust in multiple sources of cancer information varied by perceptions of health mis- and disinformation on social media and by race and ethnicity. METHODS: Cross-sectional, nationally representative survey data from noninstitutionalized adults in …

Influences of mpox disease perceptions, sources and contents of information exposure on mpox vaccine uptake among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men in Hong Kong, China.

BACKGROUND: Following the global mpox outbreak in 2022, multiple regions in Asia have been reporting ongoing mpox cases within high-risk groups, including gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). An optimal level of vaccination rate is essential to prevent further mpox outbreaks. However, no existing studies have examined mpox vaccine uptake among GBMSM in East Asia. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among a sample of 531 GBMSM in Hong Kong, China, between March and October 2023. The study used multivariable logistic regression models to investigate the associ

Fusing line spectrum enhancement, physics-informed features, and data-driven models: Underwater weak acoustic source ranging using deep learning.

Accurate ranging of underwater weak acoustic sources remains a critical challenge in complex marine environments due to severe acoustic energy attenuation, multipath interference, and strong ambient background noise. This work proposes an integrated framework combining line spectrum enhancement, conventional beamforming-based feature extraction, and data-driven learning for weak acoustic source ranging. Test datasets were collected from a 2025 sea trial, using a 24-element array with Global Positioning System-synchronized ground truth. After quality screening, 2584 valid samples were obtained

Barriers in operating proactive source reduction informed by an early warning system for dengue prevention: A qualitative study from end-user perspectives in Vietnam.

BACKGROUND: Dengue is a major vector-borne disease, with rising incidence driven by climate change, rapid urbanization, and increased international travel. Although early warning systems (EWSs) have shown promising predictive performance in endemic settings, limited evidence on implementation barriers from local end users hinders their integration into routine proactive vector control. METHODS: A qualitative study with in-depth interviews was conducted with local end users, including local authorities, health practitioners, and health volunteers. A deductive approach utilizing a predefined co

What is the Best Source of Information for Psychopathic Traits in Youth? A Review and Meta-analysis of Self- and Other-Reported Psychopathic Traits and Their Association with Negative Outcomes.

Child psychopathic traits appear to be associated with negative outcomes. Despite the study of youth psychopathy often relying on multiple reporters (e.g., child, caregivers, teachers), there is limited insight into how much information these various sources contribute and moreover, how this information is integrated. The present study sought to address this gap in the literature by examining the magnitude of relationships between self- and other-reported youth psychopathy and negative outcomes (e.g., delinquency, aggression) using a meta-analytic approach. Results revealed a moderate associat

Relationships between sex hormones assessed in amniotic fluid, and maternal and umbilical cord serum: what is the best source of information to investigate the effects of fetal hormonal exposure?

Levels of testosterone (T) (total and free), androstenedione (A4), dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEAS), sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and estradiol (E2) were measured by radioimmunoassay (RIA) in 156 normal pregnancies (77 male and 79 female fetuses). Samples were obtained from amniotic fluid, 2nd and 3rd trimester maternal serum, and umbilical cord serum at birth. During the critical period of brain differentiation, at the beginning of the second trimester of pregnancy, sex differences in T and A4 were found in amniotic fluid and not in maternal serum. This finding adds to the fact

Responsible use of generative AI in Chinese vocational education: eye-tracking evidence on source verification and immediate near-transfer across three information-seeking conditions.

INTRODUCTION: Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) can streamline information screening and integration in vocational learning, but easy access to fluent answers may reduce students' tendency to check sources. Drawing on a dual-process perspective, this study compared GenAI-only, conventional web-search, and hybrid-search conditions in terms of source verification, task trust, perceived cognitive load, and condition-supported immediate near-transfer performance. METHODS: Ninety-six vocational college students took part in a three-group, between-subjects eye-tracking experiment. After st

What would have happened anyway? Population data source considerations when estimating background incident rates of adverse events following immunisation to inform vaccine safety.

INTRODUCTION: Understanding background incident rates of adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) is essential to rapidly detect, evaluate, respond to, and communicate about vaccine safety concerns, especially for new vaccines. Creating estimates based on geographic specific population level data is increasingly important, as new AEFI presentations will be subject to the same local influences of population demography, exposures, health system variations and level of health care sought. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort analysis of hospital admissions, emergency department prese
