INTRODUCTION: Transfer of proximal epiphysis and diaphysis of fibula is a treatment of bony defects in children. Although there are few reports of this procedure, different arteries or combination of arteries have been used as supplying pedicle and the reported success rates are different. This is an anatomical study to clarify the vascular anatomy of this region.

INTRODUCTION: This review provides an updated analysis of the evidence supporting intra-arterial thrombolysis (IAT) for the treatment of central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO).
METHODS: A systemic review of the literature indexed by Ovid MEDLINE was performed for the following medical subject headings: central retinal artery occlusion, thrombolysis, intra-arterial, fibrinolysis. Studies were analysed individually and categorised by study type, and extracted data grouped together for statistical analysis. Only studies with five patients or more were included in the review.

The "glove" phenomenon is caused by arterial injection of a bone-imaging agent into the antecubital fossa. The authors describe a patient who incidentally received an arterial injection of bone-imaging agent into the right distal radial artery near the wrist, which resulted in a "hot" palm and thumb. Almost half of our patients admitted with mesenteric infarction (MI) (n = 81) were inoperable. In the group (n = 44) who underwent curative therapy, 45% have survived, 32% died of recurrent MI and 23% from causes other than intestinal ischemia. In view of this high rate of recurrence our therapeutic strategy in MI needs to be reconsidered. Postischemic vasoconstriction may be the main cause of the progression of mesenteric ischemia despite apparently curative treatment. Selective injection of vasodilators in the superior mesenteric artery may improve prognosis.

In a 52 year-old male patient with a past history of two strokes, an occlusion of the basilar cerebral artery in the area of bifurcation into the posterior cerebral arteries was angiographically confirmed. We report a case of non-familial, sporadic fetal retinoblastoma (RB) that was accidently detected at 39 weeks of gestation on pre-natal ultrasonography in left eye (OS). Post-natal examination revealed Group A and, Group D RB in right eye (OD) and OS, respectively. A 26-year-old male presented with sudden right-sided sensorineural hearing loss after injection of heroin into the right neck. The hearing loss was found to be profound with no other associated abnormalities on examination or investigation. There was no change at 3-month follow-up. This was most probably due to arterial injection and is a previously unreported complication of heroin abuse.

We injected a new injection material into the external carotid artery using a new method, which led to the successful demonstration of the nasal septal branches of the sphenopalatine artery in human cadavers. The result shows the trunk of the artery divided into three main branches, the upper two of which run toward Little's area. We believe that the knowledge of septal branches, shown in a photograph, is very useful, not only for nasal treatment, but also for anatomic demonstration to students.
