Authors describe a case of 24 years old woman with recurrent lower GI bleeding and mechanical obstruction. Crohn's disease was diagnosed at the beginning. Between April 1975 and December 1985, 870 colonoscopies were performed and 803 colorectal polyps were managed endoscopically. Thirty-nine per cent of the polyps were metaplastic polyps. OBJECTIVES: To assess frequency of gallbladder polyposis and carcinoma in metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD).
METHODS: We evaluated 34 patients with MLD (average age 16.7 years, age range 2-39 years) screened for gallbladder abnormalities by ultrasound. In the case of cholecystectomy, findings at pathology were reviewed.
