A 9-year-old boy with a history of lipoma excision and laminectomy at the Th10-11 levels, resulting in incomplete paraparesis and neurogenic bladder, was admitted for a comprehensive rehabilitation programme. Physical examination revealed an ipsilateral focal dermal hypoplastic defect within an area of alopecia and a subcutaneous lipomatous tissue on the left temporo-parietal region of the scalp. The question as to whether lamellar explorative iridocyclectomy always enables the spread of tumors of the iris base or ciliary body to be detected beyond doubt was verified in 11 patients who had been treated by this procedure more than four years previously. Seven of the patients were available for reexamination. In two special cases it was found that this was not true. In the other patients neither histologic findings nor long-term follow-up revealed any tumor spread beyond the excision area, and in particular no invasion of the sclera.

We describe two patients (two eyes) with neovascular glaucoma following photoradiation therapy (PRT) for ciliary body and iris melanoma. Histopathologic examination in one eye eight months after treatment disclosed widespread tumor necrosis. We report a retrospective review of patients with retinoblastoma and anterior segment invasion (ASI) as risk factors for extraocular relapse. Only those with ASI combined with postlaminar optic nerve invasion and/or scleral invasion received adjuvant chemotherapy and those with tumor at the resection margin received orbital radiotherapy. We retrospectively studied the value of iris fluorescein angiography in predicitng benignity or malignancy in 10 cases of ciliary body melanoma with iris extension. No correlation between fluorescein-angiographic appearance and histopathologic features was observed. Fluorescein angiography adds little to the management of ciliary body melanomas with iris extension.

Two cases with chromosome 11 anomaly related to cancer are reported. The first one has a pericentric inversion (inv. p14 q12) with sympathoblastoma and Ondine's curse. The second one has a deletion (11p13) with aniridia and catalase deficiency but without Wilms tumor at two year of age. Retinoblastoma, nephroblastoma and sympathoblastoma may be related to genome modification. The mechanism of oncogenesis are discussed.

A study of 11 consecutive patients with anterior uveal melanomas from one institution demonstrated the wide variation in the clinical and histopathologic manifestations of the tumors. The intraocular pressure in the involved eye compared with the fellow eye was elevated in five cases, equal in four, and reduced in two. INTRODUCTION: Iris melanomas are a rare entity accounting for 2-5% of uveal melanomas. The most frequent primary treatment for circumscribed iris melanomas is irradiation, particularly by proton beam therapy (PBT). Short-term efficacy is encouraging but there is little data on long-term tumour control and side effects.

Adenomas of the nonpigmented ciliary epithelium are rare tumors and are difficult to differentiate from amelanotic malignant melanomas of the ciliary body. PURPOSE: Management of a case of glaucoma secondary to an iris metastasis is reported.
RESULTS: A 31-year-old woman developed glaucoma secondary to a metastatic tumor to the iris. Anti-glaucoma medication failed to control the increase in intraocular pressure (IOP). However, diode laser cyclophotocoagulation controlled the IOP.
CONCLUSION: Glaucoma secondary to an iris metastasis is difficult to manage. Diode laser cyclophotocoagulation is effective in controlling the increase in IOP without affecting visual acuity.

A 15-year experience with excision of selected uveal melanomas indicates that the human eye does not tolerate a dissection of an intraocular tumor exceeding 10 mm in diameter. Twenty-seven out of 35 eyes retained useful vision. Three cases required enucleation after excision, two of these owing to tumor recurrence. Only one tumor death has occurred, five years and four months after excision.

Objective: To observe the clinical and pathological features of uveal metastatic carcinoma. Methods: It was a retrospective case series study. The clinical manifestation, growth pattern, tumor types and relative pathological features of 13 patients visiting from January 1980 to December 2014 with uveal metastatic carcinoma in Tianjin Eye Hospital were analyzed retrospectively. Results: There were 13 cases, 6 cases of male and 7 of female. Age was from 37.0 to 66.0 years old. The mean age was 52.1 years old. all cases were monocular. There were 5 cases with right eye and 8 cases with left eye.
