Our study evaluated and compared the false-negative rates (FNR) of a wide array of fur-mite diagnostic tests, including 2 postmortem tests (pelt exam and sticky paper) and 3 antemortem tests (adhesive tape, fur pluck, and PCR). Past publications examining fur-mite diagnostic techniques primarily used paired comparisons, evaluating tests by their level of agreement with only one other test. Among the herbivorous arthropods that feed on strawberry, the most important are the two-spotted spider mite (TSSM), Tetranychus urticae Koch, and several species of aphids. In rosacea patients (ages 11-50 years old) 44% were infested with D. folliculorum as compared to normal controls (23.0%). The difference was significant. Endectocidal efficacy of doramectin administered intramuscularly at a dosage of 300 micrograms/kg was evaluated in 464 pigs naturally infected with intestinal nematodes or mange mites on 14 commercial farms in Japan. By doramectin treatment, fecal egg counts were reduced > 99% for Ascaris suum, Strongyloides ransomi, Oesophagostomum dentatum, and Trichuris suis; worm counts of T. suis and mite counts of Sarcoptes scabiei reduced 90.1% on Day 21 and 99.5% on Day 28 following treatment, respectively.

The geographical distribution and population density of rodents and chigger mites at six localities of Chollanam-do were investigated from October to December in 1993. Among total 142 field rodents collected by the modified Chemla wooden traps, 131 rodents were Apodemus agrarius (92.3%) and 11 were Crocidura lasiura (7.7%).
