Intracholecystic tubulopapillary neoplasm (ICPN) is a noninvasive, intraepithelial tumor presenting as a polypoid papillary mass arising from the gallbladder. Approximately 6.4% of all gallbladder neoplasms are associated with ICPNs. A young male presented with pain in the right hypochondrium and epigastrium. An abdominal ultrasound showed a 2.3 x 1.6 cm mass lesion in the gallbladder. Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen showed an irregular polypoidal intraluminal soft tissue density of 21 x 17 mm in the fundus of the gallbladder. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) evaluation was suggestive of a

Extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) is a rare neoplasm that usually develops in apocrine gland-bearing areas, such as the vulva, scrotum, and penis. EMPD may present with a focal, multifocal, or an ectopic lesion. Clinically, EMPD lesions often exhibit infiltrative erythema, which is sometimes similar to other skin disorders such as eczema. While primary EMPD arises as intraepithelial neoplasm of the epidermis, EMPD-like lesions may occur from epidermotropic spread of malignant cells or direct extension from an underlying internal neoplasm, known as secondary EMPD. Because treatment strategies

Pancreatic cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death and CT is the most commonly used modality for the initial evaluation of suspected pancreatic cancer. Post-processing of CT data into 2D multiplanar and 3D reconstructions has been shown to improve tumor visualization and assessment of tumor resectability compared to axial slices, and is considered the standard of care. Cinematic rendering is a new 3D-rendering technique that produces photorealistic images, and it has the potential to more accurately depict anatomic detail compared to traditional 3D reconstruction techniques. Patients who survive Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) are at increased risk of secondary neoplasms (SNs). A wide variety of SNs have been reported, including leukemias, non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, and solid tumors, specifically breast and thyroid cancers. Herein we report subsequent neoplasms in four patients with HL receiving chemoradiotherapy. It is interesting that three SNs, fibrosarcoma, thyroid carcinoma, and retrobulbar meningioma, were observed in the radiation area in one of our patients. A hypopharyngeal epithelioid malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor as an unusual secondary malignant neoplasm

BACKGROUND: Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms (AMNs) are rare tumors that are often discovered incidentally and may present with non-specific symptoms such as abdominal pain, ascites, or features mimicking appendicitis.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 72-year-old male presented with small intestine obstruction secondary to an internal hernia. CT scan imaging initially suggested adhesive bands; however, surgical exploration revealed an inflamed, tumor-bearing appendix tip adherent to the mesentery, forming a hernia orifice that trapped a loop of small intestine. The patient underwent appendectomy, mesenteri

Mucinous cystic neoplasm of the liver (MCN-L) is a rare epithelial tumor with ovarian-like stroma (OLS), accounting for less than 5% of hepatic cysts. While usually confined to the liver, MCN-L rarely invades the biliary tract, complicating diagnosis and treatment. This case report describes a 53-year-old woman with recurrent cholangitis after robotic hepatic resection for MCN-L. Imaging revealed a lesion in the bile ducts, initially suspected to be intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct (IPNB). Robotic left hepatectomy using the Da Vinci platform was performed, and intraoperative fin

BACKGROUND: In 2017, the International Pituitary Pathology Club proposed to rename pituitary adenoma as pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNETs) but since no consensus on this new terminology was obtained the Pituitary Society decided to host on this topic an international multidisciplinary virtual workshop, Pituitary Neoplasm Nomenclature (PANOMEN), to which several Societies participated with the designation of their representatives in the expert panel. Main conclusion of the meeting was that there was not yet a case for adopting the PitNET nomenclature and main recommendation was that the

BACKGROUND: Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) is an increasingly recognized cystic neoplasm of the pancreas, histologically classified by the degree of epithelial atypia and by the presence or absence of invasion of the cyst wall. To the authors' knowledge, the cytologic features of this neoplasm are poorly characterized, especially with respect to tumor grade.
METHODS: Thirty-three endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided pancreatic fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) samples and 1 pancreatic duct brush specimen from 25 patients with a histologically confirmed IPMN were retrospective

Thymomas are common primary mediastinal neoplasms. They can be benign or malignant. The diagnosis of malignant thymomas is based on capsular invasion, cellular atypia and distant metastases. We present a case of invasive malignant thymoma as diagnosed on PET and CT scan with histologic correlation and review of literature. A seventy year old Asian man presented with cough and dyspnea. A CT scan showed an anterior mediastinal mass, and a PET scan showed a hypermetabolic mass in the corresponding location. Resection of the mass revealed a minimally invasive thymoma based on evidence of capsular

Keratoacanthoma of the skin and well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma are two cutaneous neoplasms that most often occur in sun-exposed sites of light-skinned persons. It is often difficult to distinguish these two from each other either clinically or histologically. The view that these two cutaneous neoplasms are part of the same disease entity is not new. We reviewed 150 patients with these two diseases in an effort to see whether any specific criteria for diagnosis and treatment could be achieved. It is our hypothesis that they are not separate diseases but within the spectrum of the s

OBJECTIVE: Meningiomas are neoplasms that arise from the meninges of the central nervous system (CNS). They constitute about 25.6% of CNS tumors diagnosed in Egypt. Some morphological variants of meningiomas display aggressive behavior, leading to brain-invasive growth pattern. Although meningiomas are usually treated by complete surgical excision, the risk of postoperative recurrence remains. Hence, additional biomarkers for predicting aggressive behavior must be discovered. This study aims to explore the clinical and biological relevance of the protein expression levels of β-catenin and gale

Adenomyoepithelioma comprises a spectrum of lesions with variable morphology and clinical behavior, presenting at a wide age range. The most common presenting symptom is palpable abnormality. Mammographic abnormalities include focal asymmetries, masses and microcalcifications. Adenomyoepithelioma is a biphasic neoplasm characterized by proliferation of epithelial and myoepithelial cells. Adenomyoepitheliomas can be benign, atypical and malignant (adenomyoepithelioma with carcinoma). Malignant transformation occurs in either one or both cellular components leading to the development of invasive

Pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (pNENs) are among the most frequently occurring neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs). In this study, we aimed to investigate the role and impact of LncRNA-n336928 (n336928) in pNENs. We evaluated changes in cell proliferation using CCK-8, colony formation, and EDU assays, and assessed the effects on cell migration and invasion through transwell assays. RNA-seq analysis was performed to explore the potential mechanisms underlying n336928-induced pNEN progression. Subcutaneous tumorigenesis models were constructed to verify the function of n336928 in vivo. Our find

Encapsulated thyroid gland lesions, defined by complete or partial confinement within a fibrous capsule, are common findings in endocrine pathology but frequently pose diagnostic challenges. The primary difficulty lies in distinguishing benign, low-risk, and malignant neoplasms, particularly within the spectrum of follicular-patterned tumors. Accurate classification can be hindered by pitfalls such as differentiating true tumor capsule from peritumoral fibrosis, identifying capsular or vascular invasion versus reactive changes from preoperative fine-needle aspiration, and accounting for histol

Appendiceal diverticulosis is a rare finding associated with appendiceal neoplasms. Both can masquerade as appendicitis in patients and are overlooked in differentials of right upper quadrant pain. A 37-year-old African American female presented with appendicitis-like symptoms to the emergency room with fever and leukocytosis. Appendectomy was performed with pathological evaluation revealing coexisting appendiceal diverticula and carcinoid of the appendix with lymphovascular invasion and mesoappendiceal involvement. In line with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines, right hemic

HLA expression by the trophoblast in invasive hydatidiform mole was analysed by immunoperoxidase staining. In the invading villi of an invasive mole, villous trophoblast, both syncytiotrophoblast and cytotrophoblast, failed to show a positive reaction for HLA-A, -B and -C and HLA-DR. By contrast, extravillous trophoblast showed an intense reaction for HLA-A, -B and -C. The distribution of HLA antigens in the invading villi was the same as in the non-invading villi, and the antigens were also indistinguishable from those noted in non-invasive hydatidiform moles. The histopathology of invasive m

Primary thyroid angiosarcoma is a very rare and extremely aggressive mesenchymal malignant neoplasm showing morphological and immunophenotypic evidence of endothelial cell differentiation. Early diagnosis of this tumor along with radical thyroidectomy followed by postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy are essential for adequate management of the patient. Currently available data on diagnosis and treatment options of this neoplasm are limited because it is a rare disease in endocrine organs. Raising awareness regarding its diagnosis can help to optimize the treatment and to improve the sur
