Uterine leiomyoma (LM) is a smooth muscle tumor occurring in 30% of women of reproductive age. This neoplasm is the most common benign tumor of female genitals. Uterus is the most frequent localization of tumor. However, LM can be detected in external genitalia, ovaries, bladder and urethra. Despite the benign nature, LM is characterized by metastasizing as one of the main properties of malignant neoplasms. For the first time, Steiner described this case in 1939. The author found similar histological structure of pulmonary and uterine neoplasms. LM metastases in bone tissue, skin, mediastinum,

The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of neoplasms in captive wild felids in Southern Italy zoos over a 13-year period (2008-2021) and to investigate macroscopic and histologic tumor findings in these animals. A total of 24 cases were necropsied, 9 males and 15 females, with age ranging from 6 to 19 years, including 12 tigers (Panthera tigris), 7 leopards (Panthera pardus), 4 lions (Panthera leo), and 1 black jaguar (Panthera onca). Diagnosis of neoplasm was made in 14/24 cases (58.3%). Tumors diagnosed were two cholangiocarcinomas, two hemangiosarcomas of the liver, two uterine

Carcinoid tumors are rare, slow-growing neoplasms of neuroendocrine origin commonly affecting the gastrointestinal or respiratory system. They metastasize to lymph nodes and the liver based on their lymphatic and venous drainage of their tissue of origin. Metastasis to the heart is exceedingly rare accounting for <2 % of cases. Exceedingly rare is the incidental detection of cardiac carcinoid metastasis as the initial presentation of carcinoid syndrome. Here, we describe a case of metastatic cardiac carcinoid detected during a routine echocardiogram done for evaluation of a systolic murmur.

Meningiomas are benign neoplasms that arise from cellular elements of the meninges. Although meningiomas are usually considered as benign tumors, they have a potential to become aggressive and to metastasize to the extracranial structures. Distant metastasis most commonly occurs in lung, liver, and long bones. We present an extremely rare case of a delayed metastasis of a recurrent intracranial meningioma to the hard palate 19 years after the initial diagnosis. The patient underwent surgical excision without any complication and follow-up showed no recurrence.

Tumor relapse and pulmonary metastasis, especially unresectable lesions, are the major cause of poor prognosis of patients with osteosarcoma. Anlotinib, a novel small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), has been proved to have desirable anti-tumor effects via blocking VEGFR2 and PDGFRβ phosphorylation in several tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer and soft tissue sarcoma. In this study, we presented a case of giant delayed pulmonary metastasis of osteosarcoma which was effectively treated by anlotinib. CT scan of this patient showed a giant neoplasm with the size of 1,366 cm3 in

INTRODUCTION: The ovary, being a richly vascular organ, may receive metastases from numerous tissues, particularly of gynecologic origin. Extragenital cancers are dominated by gastro-intestinal and breast tumors. The lung is exceptionally described as a primary site of ovarian metastasis.
CASE REPORT: We report a 28-year-old woman who was found to have a right perihilar opacity. The diagnosis of small cell bronchial carcinoma was made by bronchial biopsy. A right-sided uterine mass was also identified. This was resected and histopathology identified it as an ovarian metastasis from the pulmon

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Papillary Renal Neoplasm with Reversed Polarity (PRNRP) is a rare renal tumor first described in 2019. It is characterized by low-grade nuclei, eosinophilic cytoplasm, and an inverted nuclear arrangement. Unlike papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC), PRNRP frequently harbors KRAS mutations and lacks the typical trisomies of chromosomes 7 and 17. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry remain the gold standard for diagnosis.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 52-year-old woman with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease presented with worsening renal

UNLABELLED: Lung cancer is the most common neoplasm diagnosed worldwide. Metastatic presentation of the disease is frequent. Apart from the usual sites of metastatic disease (bone, adrenals, liver, brain), a particular site for metastases is represented by skin. The case we report is about a 66 year-old man with cutaneous metastasis from lung cancer. A 66 year-old man, with a previous history of abdominal aortic aneurism, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cardiopathy, diabetes mellitus, was admitted to our institution for left lower lobe lung cancer. After accurate preoperative staging, p

Extraskeletal osteosarcoma (ESOS) is a rare soft tissue sarcoma, typically characterized by a bone-producing neoplasm. Low-grade extraskeletal osteosarcoma (LGESOS) is an extremely rare soft tissue tumor, and patients with LGESOS tend to have a better prognosis. Here, we reported a case of LGESOS of the mediastinum with lung metastasis, and describe its clinical, pathological and radiological features, and compared them with those of the reported cases.

Esthesioneuroblastoma (ENB) is a malignant neoplasm of the olfactory epithelium. Metastasis of ENBs to retropharyngeal lymph nodes is an important finding on imaging examinations that alters staging and treatment. A total of 17 cases of ENB from 3 institutions were evaluated. The CT and MR imaging findings from the cases of 4 patients with ENB with retropharyngeal metastatic disease are reviewed. The vector of spread, staging, and treatment implications are discussed.

A child with mediastinal and supraclavicular ganglioneuroma, heterochromia iridis, and Horner's syndrome is described. The authors postulate that the thoracic neoplasm originated as a congenital neuroblastoma with metastasis to the supraclavicular lymph nodes and subsequent benign transformation, and that the ocular abnormalities resulted from sympathetic ganglion injury by the tumor in infancy. This seems to be the first published report of such ocular abnormalities associated with mediastinal ganglioneuroma.

Meningiomas generally present as slow-growing, expanding intracranial lesions and are the most common benign intracranial tumor in adults. Rarely, meningiomas can exhibit malignant potential and present as extracranial soft-tissue masses through extension or as primary extracranial cutaneous neoplasms. Although they are uncommonly encountered by dermatologists, it is important to include meningioma in the differential diagnosis for scalp neoplasms. We present a rare case of a 68-year-old woman with scalp metastasis of meningioma 11 years after initial resection of the primary tumor.

BACKGROUND: Malignant melanoma is the foremost cause of metastasis to the breast from extramammary solid neoplasm. However primary melanoma of the breast is a distinct rarity. Primary melanoma involves the skin and less commonly the glandular parenchyma of the breast.
METHOD: We herein describe a case of primary amelanotic melanoma of the breast parenchyma in a 32-year-old female managed with a combination of surgery, adjuvant radiotherapy and immunotherapy.
CONCLUSION: This case report aims to increase awareness of unusual neoplasms of the breast which might require a different surgical and

The adenocarcinoid tumor is a potentially malignant neoplasm usually arising in the appendix. We describe a 55-year-old woman with a ureteroileal conduit in place for 12 years who suffered obstruction of the ileal segment of the conduit, with recurrent pyelonephritis and abdominal pain. Pathological examination of a segmentally resected portion of the conduit revealed a submucosal proliferation of nests of argentaffin/argyrophil cells and large, mucin-distended goblet cells. The patient showed no evidence of metastasis and has done well to date following excision. A discussion of neoplasms ari

Laryngeal neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are rare and heterogeneous, encompassing well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (NETs; grade 1, 2, and 3), neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs, small cell and large cell types), and mixed neuroendocrine non-neuroendocrine neoplasms (MiNEN). We aimed to study the clinicopathologic spectrum of these neoplasms. A retrospective review of all primary laryngeal NENs diagnosed from 2005 to 2017 was undertaken. Mitotic index was divided into < 2, ≥ 2-10, and > 10 mitoses/2 mm2, with a Ki-67 labelling index of < 2%, ≥ 2-20%, and > 20% for the NET grade 1, 2 and

BACKGROUND: Pleural neoplasms are rare and can be subdivided into pleural metastasis and primary pleural neoplasms. Non-mesothelioma primary pleural neoplasms are a diverse group of extremely rare pathologies.
CASE PRESENTATION: In this case series, we describe the presentation and management of two rare primary pleural neoplasms. A first case describes a primary pleural yolk sac tumor treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy, extended pleurectomy decortication, and hyperthermic intrathoracic chemotherapy. In a second case we describe the management of a primary pleural synovial sarcoma by neoad

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent malignant neoplasms. Tumor metastasis represents a significant contributor to unfavorable prognosis, and lung metastasis is the most common extra-abdominal metastasis of CRC. However, pulmonary metastatic CRC has not received significant attention. Therefore, in this study, our main aim was to discover the key genes for lung metastasis and improve the prognosis of CRC.
METHODS: Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between primary tumors and patients with pulmonary metastatic CRC were obtained by analysis of a comprehensive data

Tumors of the urethra, whether primary or metastatic, are very rare. The true nature of urethral neoplasm is not always obvious clinically nor in routine histological sections. Immunostains should be performed on such lesions because of management implications. We present a case of multiple metastases to the urethra from a prostatic carcinoma, masquerading as multiple urothelial carcinomas. Pathologists and urologists should be aware of the possibility of metastasis from the prostate.

Paranasal sinuses and nose metastasis are very uncommon. About 50 have been reported. Renal cell carcinoma is the primary neoplasm which most frequently metastasizes in the nasosinusal region, followed by breast and lug. Symptoms are unspecific, but the epistaxis constitutes the most common sign due to the significant vascularizations of the tumor. Prognosis is poor. The survival rate fluctuates between 15-30% at 5 years. Surgery is the elective treatment.
