This research investigated the possibility of transferring phosphorus from human urine into a concentrated form that can be used as fertilizer in agriculture. The community of Siddhipur in Nepal was chosen as a research site, because there is a strong presence and acceptance of the urine-diverting dry toilets needed to collect urine separately at the source. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is a commonly performed procedure in general surgical practice. The present study aims to highlight the results of LC in our institute. All LC carried out at our institution was prospectively audited. This was a retrospective study conducted to study the newborns weigth less than 2500gm delivered in Nepal medical college in the year 2005 and 2006. The cases were studied to find out the incidence and relation of maternal age, parity, gestational age, sex, etiological factors, mode of deliveries with Low Birth Weight (LBW) babies. Aural swabs were collected from 250 patients with chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) (tubotympanic disease). Duration of ear discharge was more than 6 months for culture and sensitivity test. The disease was unilateral in 178 (71.2%) and bilateral in 72 (28.8%) patients. We studied 604 suspected snakebite cases seen at the peripheral snakebite treatment centre, Damak, Eastern Nepal from January to December 2000 using pre-designed proforma. Seventy-five per cent of the patients were in the age group 11-40 years. The common victims were farmers (44.2%) and housewives (31.7%). To determine the magnitude of eye lesions in newly diagnosed leprosy patients we examined their eyes. The Eastern Leprosy Control Project was supported by The Netherlands Leprosy Relief Association; we used the regional clinic in Biratnagar and 5 mobile clinics in surrounding districts as our survey area. INTRODUCTION: Erdheim-Chester Disease (ECD) is a rare non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis with a propensity to involve multiple organs.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of a patient in mid-60s with occipital headache and ataxia. Following the radiological and immunohistochemical investigations and genomic studies, a diagnosis of ECD was made with two intracerebral lesions. Brain lesions were resected and the patient was discharged with the medication Vemurafenib. After 3 years of diagnosis and 13 years of initial presentation, patient passed away.
