Surgical procedures of the knee are increasingly common in outpatient centres. Advances in arthroscopy and other technologies allow more complex knee procedures to be performed on an outpatient basis. This chapter focuses on the application and advantages of peripheral nerve block regional anaesthesia in the anaesthetic management of knee surgery patients. Specific nerve blocks and local anaesthetics suitable for various knee procedures are discussed. The use of perineural catheters in the outpatient management of major knee surgery patients is also considered.

The effects of a Dutch intervention program for dyslexia are reported. The program was individually tailored, depending on the style of reading, the phase of the learning process, and the intermediate results of the treatment. The presence of adequately equipped surgical unit in outpatient clinics provides surgical aid to more patients with urological diseases. Preoperative preparation, aseptic and antiseptic measures, local anesthesia were routine. 64 operations for phimosis, condylomatous growth of the foreskin, hydrocele, cyst of the epididymis and spermatic cord, chronic epididymitis, short frenulum of the prepuce were performed in outpatient setting. PURPOSE: The safety of performing peripheral percutaneous angioplasty on an outpatient basis was studied.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted of all peripheral angioplastic procedures performed at one institution during a 4-year period. An outpatient donor program using pets owned by employees or clients is a practical and cost-efficient means of obtaining blood for transfusion. Donors can have blood typed and be screened for certain diseases, and blood can be drawn at a convenient time. Components can be prepared and stored. The extracapsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation (ECCE with PC IOL) was performed on 113 cases (120 eyes) with senile cataract. With careful attention to patient selection and anesthesia, as well as easy-to-manage dressings and urinary diversions, outpatient surgery for all degrees of hypospadias can be performed safely and economically. By using these techniques over an eighteen-month period all hypospadias operations were performed in the outpatient department. This included thirty-four minor operations as well as twenty-five major hypospadias repairs. Seven complications were encountered in the fifty-nine operations.

Diagnosis was improved and the duration of examination and costs reduced as a result of bronchoscopy carried out in outpatients. Lung cancer was frequent in males over 45 years with a long history of heavy smoking. In such cases, the disease presented as long-lasting acute pneumonia.
