Oncological imaging in the abdomen and pelvis can be complex. Several imaging pitfalls and mimics of oncology can create diagnostic uncertainty. A pitfall is a malignancy that is missed, either not visualized or misdiagnosed as a benign finding. A mimic is a benign entity that is misinterpreted as malignancy. Umbilical endometriosis is defined as an ectopic localization of functional endometrium at the level of the umbilicus. It is a rare condition, representing 0.5% to 1% of all extragenital endometriosis cases, and its pathophysiology is poorly understood. We report the case of a 34-year-old woman, G2P2, with no significant surgical history, admitted for cyclic umbilical pain. Oncology patients can present with acute, life-threatening conditions that may arise either due to underlying malignancy or secondary to cancer therapy. Select oncologic emergencies show characteristic imaging findings on radiographs, ultrasound, computed tomography, and MRI that helps in timely diagnosis. Radiologists need to be aware of typical imaging findings in such patients in an emergency setting and should be able to guide the clinicians for proper patient management. Appropriate knowledge of the treatment and its timing is pivotal in diagnosing treatment-related complications.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The pelvis and hip account for 0.3--4% of fractures of the immature skeleton, and generally result from high energy trauma. These fractures range in severity from apophyseal avulsions to complete disruptions of the pelvic ring. The purpose of this article is to review the presentation, diagnosis, treatment and complications of these injuries in order to inform clinicians involved in their management. There is a lack of evidence-based management protocols for fractures of the immature pelvis largely due to their rarity and lack of robust scientific literature on the topic.
