In this study, geochemical tracers (radium isotopes) and heavy metals (Pb, Zn, Cd, Cr and As) were analyzed to derive the submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) and associated metal fluxes during four seasons in an urbanized bay (Daya Bay, China). Results showed that Pb and Zn were the main pollutants in bay water. SGD was found to exhibit an obvious seasonal trend (autumn > summer > spring > winter). The aim of the present retrospective study was to evaluate incidence and degree of oral soft tissue side-effects of a cisplatin-based chemotherapy regimen used for treating testicular cancer. The transfer factor is an important concept for assessing hazard indices associated with radionuclide intake. In this study, radionuclide transfer factors were determined for the infusion process using gamma spectrometry. For raw herbs, the activity concentration values ranged from (10.04 ± 4.25) to (1565.05 ± 68.25) Bq·kg-1 for K-40, from (<0.93) to (6.84 ± 3.68) Bq·kg-1 for Ra-228, and from (<2.06) to (30.40 ± 3.68) Bq·kg-1 for Ra-226. Cherenkov Luminescence Imaging (CLI) is a new method to image radioactive therapeutic and diagnostic agents, primarily in preclinical studies. This study used Geant4 and Python to generate the predicted Cherenkov light production as a function of time for a set of isotopic chains of interest for targeted alpha therapy: 223Ra, 212Pb, and 149Tb. All are shown to produce substantial Cherenkov light, though time delays between initial decays and the production of Cherenkov light requires caution in interpreting CLI.
