INTRODUCTION: Fournier's gangrene is a rapidly progressing necrotizing fascitis that affects the perineal and genital area. Mortality still remains high. The aim of this study was to evaluate the epidemiological progression and morbidity-mortality of Fournier's gangrene at our centre over the past 10 years.
METHODS: Retrospective study of 41 patients treated for Fournier's gangrene between 1998 and 2007. Variables studied included, demographic variables, aetiology, microbiology, surgical and antibiotic treatment, morbidity, and mortality.

BACKGROUND: The actual incidence of anaphylaxis is unknown. Periodical study of the anaphylaxis in different countries will raise the awareness to improve further the prevention and care.
METHODS: To investigate anaphylaxis among inpatients in the previous decade, we conducted a retrospective study of adult patients between 1992 and 2001 at a tertiary care center in Bangkok.

We report our experience of the management of 53 patients with 57 carotid body tumours from two units of oral and maxillofacial surgery in China between 1995 and 2006. Digital subtraction angiography was used most often for the confirmation of diagnosis and preoperative assessment. BACKGROUND: Stillbirth rates have decreased radically over the last decades. One reason for this is improved perinatal care. The aim of this study was to explore whether sub-optimal factors in stillbirths were more frequent among non-western than western women.
METHODS: Population-based perinatal audit of 356 stillbirths after gestational week 23, in 2 Norwegian counties during 1998-2003 (4.2 per 1,000 deliveries); of these 31% were born to non-western women. By audit, the stillbirths were attributed to optimal or sub-optimal care factors. Multivariate methods were used to analyse the data.
