Oophorectomy is not always performed at the time of vaginal hysterectomy because of technical difficulties encountered in visualizing the ovaries and clamping and ligating the infundibulopelvic ligament. After uterine removal, a method that simplifies the approach involves separating the round ligament along the avascular space from the fallopian tube and ovary, then ligating the infundibulopelvic ligament separately from the round ligament, rather than clamping and ligating the infundibulopelvic and round ligaments together.

The ligamentum teres has traditionally been described as a vestigial remnant or redundant structure with little contribution to hip biomechanics or function. However, interest in the ligamentum teres has been renewed as evidence has emerged that it not only plays a role as a pain generator in the hip but also acts as a secondary stabilizer to supplement the work of the capsular ligaments. Furthermore, an association has been proposed between tearing of the ligamentum teres and the development of degenerative hip disease. However, the question remains, is it a cause-and-effect relationship?

A woman aged 15 without any notable pathological history, was submitted to an operation because of a gradual growth of her umbilical region for a month. A tumor as large as an hazel-nut, was an angiofibroma of the round ligament of the liver. The round ligament may give cysts and tumors as the allantois does. If the tumors are generally malignant when situated in allantois, they would not always be mild when in the round ligament, as attested by a late observation in litterature.

In 12 human embryos and 76 fetuses the uterine ligaments were investigated. The round ligament appears at 8th week and the broad ligament is observed in 19th week. Up to 17th week the round ligament is connected with the uterine tube. It arises separately from the border of the uterus beginning from the 18th week. In fetuses of 11 and 12 weeks the broad ligament forms a thick plate enclosing vessels and nerves. The cardinal ligament appears at 10th week.
