A simple technique using bonded wires to establish anchorage and an attachment to a tooth requires a minimum of special materials or advanced skills in orthodontics. The bonded wire stabilizes the anchor unit and avoids any adverse tooth movement.

The case presented is a report of a healthy 11-year-old boy, who fell down and traumatized his four maxillary incisors. Both central incisors were deeply intruded with concomitant uncomplicated crown fractures, and both lateral incisors suffered concussion. The intruded teeth were repositioned using a removable orthodontic appliance and were endodontically treated 3 weeks after trauma. Tooth 11 became ankylosed 3 months post trauma, and tooth 21 was extruded to its original position after 5 months. Five months post-trauma, teeth 12 and 22 underwent necrosis and were endodontically treated. In

Osseointegrated dental implants represent a successful treatment modality for partial and complete edentulism. However, concerns persist regarding their impact on adjacent natural teeth. Conflicting literature exists regarding complications such as caries, mobility, and fractures in neighboring teeth, with few studies comparing these effects with those observed in contralateral natural teeth. This retrospective study aimed to assess the impact of single posterior implant-supported rehabilitation on adjacent natural teeth compared to contralateral teeth. We retrospectively screened and analyzed

The need to rehabilitate severely compromised teeth is frequent in daily clinical practice. Tooth extraction and replacement with dental implant represents a common treatment choice. However, the survival rate for implants is inferior to teeth, even if severely damaged but properly treated. In order to reestablish a physiological supracrestal tissue attachment of damaged teeth and to arrange an efficient ferrule effect, three options can be considered: crown lengthening, orthodontic extrusion and surgical extrusion. Crown lengthening is considered an invasive technique that causes the removal

Dental trauma is one of the most prevalent problems seen in clinical practice. Crown fractures of anterior teeth are particularly common among children and adolescents. Such injuries have significant physical, psychological, and social impacts, necessitating immediate intervention. This case report describes the management of an uncomplicated crown fracture in an eight‑year‑old girl following traumatic dental injury. The fractured fragment was retrieved, stored appropriately, and re‑attached using adhesive protocols. The procedure involved cleaning and conditioning of both the tooth and fragme

PURPOSE: To investigate the cusp fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth, adhesively restored with various materials.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: MOD preparations and endodontic treatment was carried out on extracted sound maxillary premolars. The cavities were restored with the amalgam Valiant in combination with Superbond or Panavia bonding, the resin composites Z100, Herculite XRV or Clearfil RP with their respective bonding systems, Z100 in combination with the glass ionomers Ketac Fil, Fuji II and Vitremer, and Tetric in combination with Compoglass. The pulp plays a key role in the treatment of traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) and is strongly associated with the outcome, particularly in severe cases. A correct pulp diagnosis is essential as it forms the basis for developing the appropriate management strategy. However, many TDIs are complex, and their treatment requires a profound knowledge of the physiological and pathological responses of the affected tissues. This comprehensive review will look at the dentine-pulp complex and its interaction with the surrounding tissues following TDIs. The literature up to 2020 was reviewed based on se

Dentoalveolar trauma, very frequent during childhood and adolescence, generally results in tooth fracture and/or partial or total luxation. Management of the pulpal and periodontal aspects of these traumatic cases is complex. The prognosis is improved if treatment is initiated promptly. Multidisciplinary management of these situations and regular patient follow-up make it possible to detect complications quickly and take the necessary action to maintain the teeth as long as possible in a healthy periodontal environment that allows harmonious development and the application of appropriate treat

Rehabilitation of an extensively compromised single anterior tooth represents an intriguing challenge for dentists, particularly when the rehabilitation involves esthetic, psychosocial, and functional requirements. The success in rehabilitating a patient with a conservative approach depends on a critical evaluation of the remaining structures, precise treatment plan, systematic treatment strategies, and patient compliance. In this case, the patient's chief complaint was the undesirable appearance of the maxillary right lateral, caused by the displacement of the post and crown. Clinical examina

The anterior maxilla is the most traumatized region during childhood. Posttraumatic complications occasionally lead to tooth loss as well as the need for future implants. Unfortunately, it is contraindicated to place dental implants during childhood. A waiting period of approximately 8 to 10 years before completion of growth is required. For this patient to become a candidate for future dental implants, it is necessary to ensure the continuous growth and to preserve the dimensions of the alveolar process until growth has ceased from time of injury until joint maturation. To achieve these goals

This article describes how dentists can recognize osteoporosis before fractures develop, and discusses whether osteoporosis affects tooth loss or inhibits implant osseointegration. Some success in diagnosing osteoporosis has been obtained using clinical questionnaires that attempt to identify those who have strong risk factors for the disease, and analysis of the sparse trabeculation and thinning of the mandibular cortex often seen in dental panoramic radiographs. The role of osteoporosis in periodontal disease is unclear as there are many conflicting reports, but the evidence suggests that to

BACKGROUND: Endodontically treated teeth are more prone to fracture and often require durable restorative solutions. Endocrowns offer a conservative alternative to conventional post-and-core systems. This in vitro study compared the fracture load and failure behavior of milled zirconia and 3D-printed resin endocrowns.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Eighteen extracted human molars were endodontically treated and standardized, then prepared for endocrown restorations using a uniform design (two mm occlusal reduction with a four mm intracoronal extension). Specimens were randomly assigned to receive eit

Osteoporosis is a prevalent disease that is associated with increased hip fractures which cause significant decline in quality of life. Tooth loss affects systemic condition such as cognitive function through various mechanism, but the link between tooth loss and femoral bone mineral density is still uncertain. This study aims to investigate whether tooth loss in young mice affects memory function and femoral bone mineral density. Eight-week-old male C57BL/6 J mice were allocated randomly into the control group with sham operation and the tooth-loss group extracted all maxillary molar. Step-th

OBJECTIVES: The present review discussed the biomechanical properties of cracks and fractures in crown and root dentine and attempted to explain why cracked teeth and vertical root fractures are so frequent despite the existence of multiple crack toughening mechanisms in dentine. The implications of this knowledge were used to justify how these defects are managed clinically.
DATA, SOURCES AND STUDY SELECTION: Literature search was conducted on PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus for a narrative review on fracture mechanics of crown and root dentine as well as the clinical management of cracke

Dental infraposition and dental infraocclusion, hereinafter referred to as infraposition and infraocclusion respectively, are terms that are often used interchangeably. This can be noted in the International Association of Dental Traumatology guidelines for the management of traumatic dental injuries, where infraocclusion is listed as an injury-specific outcome following avulsion of permanent teeth. Infraposition and infraocclusion are terms that have been used in the dental literature to describe teeth that interfere with the normal eruption and development of the permanent dentition. While t

Forced Eruption by orthodontic means is an effective way of managing subgingival caries and root fractures at the level of the osseous crest or below. It allows the dentist to construct restorations on otherwise hopeless teeth and maintains the biologic distance between the apical portion of the junctional epithelium and the alveolar crest.
