Seventy four patients with constipation were examined by standard evacuation proctography and then attempted to expel a small, non-deformable rectal balloon, connected to a pressure transducer to measure intrarectal pressure. Simultaneous imaging related the intrarectal position of the balloon to rectal deformity. Experiments in anaesthetized open chest dogs are described in which intramyocardial pressure was determined by two methods, both suitable for long time experiments. By means of a Fogarty catheter in connection with a normal transducer the intramyocardial pressure can be measured. With this method the pressure gradient from epicardial to endocardial muscle layers is demonstrated. Insertion of catheter tip manometers leads only to small trauma of the myocardium. Nasal obstruction, either partial or complete, may cause snoring and/or obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Mirror image artifact in ultrasound is not an unusual phenomenon. However, it is rarely seen in thyroid ultrasound because of the natural convexity of the tracheal surface. We report a mirror artifact during thyroid ultrasound in a patient with an excessively collapsible trachea. Minor pressure with the transducer made the trachea surface flat or concave, and then a cyst in the thyroid was mirrored across the trachea, which mimicked an intratracheal cyst. OBJECTIVE: Bone conduction hearing aids are the only non-surgical devices used for conductive hearing loss. However, they are impractical for lifelong use since they require close contact of the transducer with the head skin, causing skin erosion and discomfort. Bone conduction hearing implants and active middle ear implants do not present these issues; however, they require surgery and can sometimes cause issues in the skin surrounding the devices. This study aimed to develop a new bone conduction hearing device that does not exert pressure on the skin or require surgery.
