The absence of causal and poor results of conservative treatment of vitiligo in many cases leads to the search for different treatment possibilities such as surgical treatment. All techniques of surgical treatment of vitiligo are based on autologous melanocytes grafting into the achromatic skin lesions. Individual surgical methods for such treatment differ in the preparation of recipient skin site, in harvesting and processing of autologous melanocytes before their grafting. The surgical treatment is useful for patients with stabile achromatic skin lesions up to 30% of total body surface area

We report a case of a 15-year-old Caucasian female, previously affected by non-segmental vitiligo and psoriasis vulgaris, who developed a psoriatic eruption on sun-exposed skin during the summer. Oral therapy with cyclosporine A achieved a rapid improvement of the clinical picture. The main features of photosensitive psoriasis and the association between psoriasis and vitiligo are discussed herein.

Vitiligo reflects a systemic process that has important implications beyond the skin. These include other autoimmune diseases and ocular and neurological abnormalities. Alezzandrini syndrome and Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome particularly exemplify this relationship. In addition, vitiligo may be confused with other systemic disorders, including tuberous sclerosis, progressive systemic sclerosis (scleroderma), melanoma, and, in endemic regions, leprosy. We describe these associations and emphasize the importance of depigmenting disorders.

Vitiligo is a common pigmentary disorder and of major social and cosmetic concern in India. Purpose of the study was to find out age at onset and sex incidence in vitiligo, role of hereditary factors and associations with other diseases. 120 self reporting vitiligo patients attending out patient department of a service hospital were selected for the study and this data was analysed.
