Unraveling the Multifunctional and Translational Paradigm of Nanoparticulate Systems against Colorectal Cancer.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a health burden due to its high mortality rate, recurrence rate, and drug resistance. The limitations of traditional methodologies (such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, and targeted active ingredients) include inefficient delivery to tumor tissue, systemic toxicity, drug resistance, and poor specificity. Hence, drug delivery through micro- and nanoparticulate systems offers innovations and can address these obstacles successfully. The design, functionality, and translational potential of particulate systems specifically designed for CRC treatment are reviewed

Two-stage deep learning framework for magnetic resonance imaging-based detection of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis.

OBJECTIVES: Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is the reference standard for detecting osseous changes in temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJ-OA) but involves ionizing radiation. MRI avoids radiation exposure and enables simultaneous soft and hard tissue evaluation; however, its sensitivity for osseous abnormalities remains limited. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a proof-of-concept two-stage deep learning framework for automated MRI-based TMJ-OA detection. METHODS: A retrospective dataset of 200 bilateral TMJ MRI examinations (400 condyles; 113 osteoarthritic, 287 non-oste

Energy-Based Phase-Locking State Analysis in Brain State Identification.

The human brain exhibits inherent multistability, with Energy Landscape Analysis (ELA) providing effective frameworks for investigating this property through BOLD signals. However, traditional amplitude-based approaches fundamentally neglect critical phase synchronization dynamics that mediate large-scale neural coordination, while existing phase-based methods like Leading Eigenvector Dynamic Analysis (LEiDA) lack thermodynamic formalism for state stability quantification. Here, we introduce Energy-based Phase-Locking State Analysis (EPLSA), a transformative computational framework that synerg

Global Research Trends in Gastric Cancer Epigenetics From 2005 to 2025.

BACKGROUND: Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignant tumors in the digestive tract, characterized by a high degree of malignancy and a poor prognosis. Complex disease heterogeneity, late diagnosis, and suboptimal treatment often lead to poor prognoses for patients. In addition to genetic alterations and environmental factors, changes in epigenetic mechanisms also play an important role in the occurrence and progression of GC. Revealing the current research status of epigenetics in GC has important guiding significance for the diagnosis and treatment of GC, as well as for future

Kinematic Parameters of Normal Hand-to-Mouth Movement in Pediatric Populations: Adaptation of the "Rab Hand-to-Mouth Protocol".

Optoelectronic motion capture systems provide objective and high-resolution measurements of upper limb kinematics. The hand-to-mouth movement is closely related to motor development in children. The "Rab Hand-to-Mouth protocol" (BTS Bioengineering) is widely used; however, its seated configuration constrains elbow posture and may limit the ecological validity of the movement. In this study, we propose a methodological adaptation of the protocol in a standing position to allow a more physiological elbow configuration and to increase the dynamic range of elbow and shoulder motion. The objective

Interpolation and Imputation Strategies for Missing Segments in Continuous Pressure-Flow Cerebral Bio-Signals: A Systematic Scoping Review.

Objective: Continuous pressure-flow cerebral bio-signals are critical for monitoring cerebrovascular dynamics but are often disrupted by missing data segments caused by artifacts from a variety of sources. These missing segments refer to segments of the signal that do not contain any valid physiological data. Such interruptions fragment the signals, resulting in discontinuities that compromise their overall integrity. Therefore, reconstructing missing values and preserving signal continuity are essential for ensuring the stable computation of signal trajectories and the accuracy of derived cer

Exploring the Role of the Rich Club in Network Control of Neurocognitive States.

The brain's rich club is a network of particularly densely interconnected regions, metabolically costly to maintain but central to the balance between functional segregation and integration. We assessed whether the rich club can accordingly be described as a control center of the brain, and present a systematic analysis of its involvement in maintenance of and traversal between various cognitively relevant functional states. Brain states were defined based on fMRI task-evoked and resting-state patterns of activity as provided by the Human Connectome Project (HCP). Using tools from network cont

A Fusion Algorithm for Pedestrian Anomaly Detection and Tracking on Urban Roads Based on Multi-Module Collaboration and Cross-Frame Matching Optimization.

Amid rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, the detection of abnormal human behaviors in complex traffic environments has garnered significant attention. However, detection errors frequently occur due to interference from complex backgrounds, small targets, and other factors. Therefore, this paper proposes a research methodology that integrates the anomaly detection YOLO-SGCF algorithm with the tracking BoT-SORT-ReID algorithm. The detection module uses YOLOv8 as the baseline model, incorporating Swin Transformer to enhance global feature modeling capabilities in complex scenes. CBAM a

Enhanced anchor-free pulmonary nodule detection utilizing distribution prediction and task-aligned learning strategies.

BACKGROUND: Efficient lung cancer screening relies on the automated and precise detection of pulmonary nodules in computed tomography (CT) images. Conventional anchor-based methodologies often rely on pre-defined anchor boxes, resulting in complex design and constrained adaptability to nodules of varying sizes. In contrast, anchor-free models, characterized by their simpler design, have garnered increasing interest. However, existing anchor-free methods may suffer from spatial misalignment across tasks and limited adaptability to diverse nodule shapes. PURPOSE: This study proposes a novel anc

A Methodological Approach to Relate Pentapeptide Sequence, Atomistic Self-Assembly, and Gelation Behavior.

The development of biomaterials that mimic the extracellular matrix of the native tissue represents an exciting frontier for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Injectable hydrogels made of short, self-assembling peptides offer a promising platform for the delivery and directed differentiation of therapeutic stem cells. However, the rational design of peptide hydrogels remains a significant challenge in tissue engineering due to our lack of understanding of the molecular mechanisms that underlie self-assembly. Although these materials hold great promise, most computational design eff

Eigen-guided transformer: A data-driven approach for chronic kidney disease forecasting.

Accurate prediction of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) development is essential for prompt therapeutic intervention; nevertheless, it is difficult due to the highly individualized disease trajectories and intricate multivariate risk profiles. Contemporary deep learning models provide substantial predictive capability; yet, they frequently exhibit computational inefficiency and a lack of interpretability, akin to a "black box." To overcome these limitations, we present the Eigen-Guided Transformer, an innovative architecture that systematically enhances model topology by data-driven eigenvalue ana
