INTRODUCTION: Lower back pain secondary to degenerative disc disease is a condition that affects young to middle-aged persons with peak incidence at approximately 40 y. MRI is the standard imaging modality for detecting disc pathology due to its advantage of lack of radiation, multiplanar imaging capability, excellent spinal soft-tissue contrast and precise localization of intervertebral discs changes.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the characterization, extent, and changes associated with the degenerative lumbar disc disease by Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
STUDY DESIGN: Cross-sectional and

The goal of this study was to determine the efficacy of local IL-1Ra gene therapy by intra-articular plasmid injections on structural changes in the meniscectomy rabbit model of osteoarthritis. A partial meniscectomy of the right knee was performed on the rabbits through a medial parapatellar incision. The rabbits were then divided into four experimental groups. Group 1 received no treatment. Group 2 received three consecutive intra-articular injections at 24-hour intervals of 0.9% saline containing a lipid, gammaAP-DLRIE/DOPE, and a DNA plasmid, VR1012. Group 3 received three consecutive inje

Thirty-seven patients who had enlargement of the spinal canal anteriorly and stabilization of the spine for cervical spondylotic myelopathy were followed for an average of forty-nine months (range, twenty-eight to seventy months). Myelography and computed tomographic myelography were performed preoperatively on all patients to determine the location and features of the areas of decompression. The canal was enlarged by discectomy; by subtotal corpectomy and removal of the anteromedial parts of the pedicles; or by removal of osteophytes or of the posterior longitudinal ligament, or both. Dislocation of the ankle without accompanying malleolar fracture has been regarded as a rare lesion, with few cases reported in the literature. To date, there has been no precedent for accurate descriptions of the mechanisms, optimum treatment, and long-term prognosis of this injury. Our goal was to evaluate these variables by a retrospective review of cases from our institution. We identified eight patients who had sustained ankle dislocation without fracture and were treated at the University of Iowa during the period 1958 to 1986. We interviewed and examined each patient and obtained ankle

BACKGROUND: Restricted elbow flexion sometimes persists even after stretching the triceps brachii. Although prior descriptions have noted that a small muscle bundle is located between the posterior elbow joint capsule and the triceps brachii, its anatomical relationship with surrounding muscles and dynamic changes during forearm rotation remain unclear. We hypothesized that the small muscle bundle separates from the triceps and contributes to forearm rotation. This study aimed to clarify the anatomical structure of the small muscle bundle and its dynamic changes during forearm rotation.

INTRODUCTION: Supraneural transforaminal epidural steroid injections (TFESI) at the L5 level are widely used to manage lumbosacral radiculopathy. However, fluoroscopic barriers such as prominent osteophytes and altered transverse process morphology can complicate needle advancement and reduce the likelihood of optimal injectate delivery. Despite these procedural challenges, no standardized grading system currently exists to objectively quantify anatomical complexity or predict technical difficulty during L5 supraneural TFESI.
METHODS: This study included 584 L5 supraneural TFESI cases perform
