For the purpose of prenatal diagnosis, 30 fetal blood samplings were performed in 30 pregnant women from 19 to 36 gestational weeks. The samples were taken with a 22-gauge needle guided by ultrasound. Twenty-five cordocenteses were succeeded at the first attempt. A second attempt was needed in other 5 cases. The duration of procedure was less than 15 minutes in 83.3% cases. 1-6 ml fetal blood was obtained for each case. No lethal complication occured in our series. Homogenates of these SMN or fresh anterior horns of pigs (SAH) as immunogens were inoculated to guinea pigs or Lewis rats and Wistar rats respectively. The nuclear ploidy of 14 placentas was determined by flow cytometry. All histologically classified complete moles (4 cases), hydropic villi (4 cases) and control placentas (3 cases) were diploid; whereas two of three histologically classified partial moles were triploid. The remaining case classified as partial mole was diploid, most likely a complete mole. It was concluded that DNA flow cytometric analysis offers an informative supplement to the histological interpretation of hydropic placentas.

This article reports sonographic characteristics of a ruptured corpus luteum with hemoperitoneum in 44 cases. Sonographic findings were classified and compared with laparotomy and pathology. From sonographic imaging, it was found that the ruptured corpus luteum cyst was pathognomonic. There was a good correlation between ultrasound findings and surgical results when bleeding was over 100 ml. The sonographic value in diagnosis of ruptured corpus luteum with hemoperitoneum is discussed in detail.

This article report a study of 23 cases of hypercalcemia crisis resulting from primary hyperparathyroidism (18 cases), carcinoma (4 cases) and vitamin D intoxication (1 case). In addition to the symptoms of primary diseases, the patients with hypercalcemia crisis often had anorexia, nausea, vomiting, polydipsia, polyuria, psychoneurotic symptoms, arrhthmia. The severity of the symptoms was proportional to the degree of hypercalcimia. Patellar resurfacing was performed by the authors. From 1983 to 1988, 19 cases (22 knees) with patello-femoral osteoarthritis were treated with this procedure in our hospital. An immunohistochemical study was conducted using the biotin avidin technique in 22 muscle specimens from PM/DM patients and 19 control subjects. Deposition of IgG, IgM or C3 in the wall of capillaries and small vessels was demonstrated in 72.7% of PM/DM patients and in 31.6% of those with other neuromuscular disorders. This finding supports the contention that immunoglobulins and complement-mediated immunoreaction may play an important role in PM/DM pathogenesis.

In 1983-1991, 55 cases of primary hyperparathyroidism confirmed by pathology and surgery were screened by ultrasonography. Its frequency was 3.5 or 7.5 MHz. This paper reports the experimental diagnosis of hairy cell leukemia and the results of splenectomy in 4 cases. Three patients were examined using histochemical methods and anti-leukocyte differentiation monoclonal antibodies. All of them were diagnosed as hairy cell leukemia of B lymphocytes. The effects of splenectomy were found to be related to chemotherapy used before and after operation. Hairy cell leukemia complicated with megalosplenia or hypersplenism were indications for splenectomy.

Dopamine metabolite 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) was detected by differential normal pulse voltammetry (DNPV) in chloral hydrate anesthetized rat striatum. The effects of some dopamine D-1 and D-2 antagonists on DOPAC concentration were observed in order to demonstrate the role of presynaptic D-1 and D-2 receptors in the feedback of dopamine synthesis and metabolism.
