Certain neurohistological techniques were used to analyze the vasocapillary network of the cortex and adjacent white matter in 11 cases of physiological aging, 3 cases with multi-infarct dementia and 5 cases of Alzheimer's disease. Differences were recorded in the topography and intensity of amyloidosis of the vessels, degenerative alterations in the vessels, senile plagues and other manifestations in the cortex and white matter of dementia and non-dementia patients. The data are of importance for understanding the pathogenesis of dementia of varying origin.

A total of 86 patients with a history of insult in the carotid system and 105 patients with the early clinical forms of cerebrovascular pathology (ECFCVP) were examined for the volumetric blood flow in the general carotid artery (GCA) using two-dimensional dopplerography. A study was made of the formation and dynamics of mental disadaptation in 300 persons living permanently for 4 years in a polluted area of Byelorussia after the Chernobyl accident. The high incidence of chronic somatic diseases was marked, forming the basis for the onset of multiple forms of mental disadaptation. 38% of the examined manifested the preclinical premorbid forms of disadaptation. Description of the structure of the forms of the abnormalities observed permits forecasting their further development and developing differentiated measures of therapy.

A retrospective analysis was made of complaints and focal neurological symptoms in patients with nonspecific aortoarteritis of brachiocephalic vessels. It is demonstrated that the latter ones appear at the early stages of the development of stenosis of the main vessels. This allows early elaboration of indications for angiologic examination of patients. It has been noted that surgical correction of the blood flow in aortic arch branches in the early phases of the disease materially improves prognosis.

Vertebro-sexual correlations were studied in 120 men with low back pain. The weakness of sexual constitution in patients with radicular syndromes indicates a correlation between vertebrogenic and sexual insufficiency. Sexual disorders in this group (27% of cases) are, probably, the result of strongly pronounced asthenia. High occurrence of sexual disorders (41%) in the group of patients with reflex syndromes depends on the main vascular mechanisms.
