CT-Assessed Sarcopenia Combined with Laboratory Inflammatory Markers for Outcome Prediction in Critically Ill, Pulmonary, and Geriatric Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Sarcopenia, assessed via computed tomography (CT), is an emerging prognostic tool in critically ill, pulmonary, and geriatric patients. Laboratory inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are routinely obtained in these populations. Whether CT-assessed sarcopenia combined with laboratory markers offers superior prognostic accuracy over either measure alone remains unclear. OBJECTIVES: To systematically evaluate the prognostic value of CT-assessed sarcopenia, alone or combined with laboratory inflammatory/

Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Quantification of Longitudinal HRCT Changes During Treatment of Pulmonary Tuberculosis: An Exploratory Proof-of-Concept Study.

Background: Treatment monitoring in pulmonary tuberculosis increasingly requires assessment of residual inflammatory burden and structural lung damage beyond microbiologic response alone. High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) can provide this information, but interpretation of serial examinations is time-consuming and partly subjective. This study did not aim to evaluate AI for the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis. Instead, it explored whether artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted quantitative HRCT analysis could support longitudinal assessment of treatment-related imaging changes in p

The Impact of Radiomics Image Analysis on Adult Hip Pathologies: A Scoping Review.

Radiomics promises quantitative biomarkers extracted from routine hip imaging to support diagnosis, prognosis, and surgical planning, but current evidence is fragmented across pathologies, modalities, and computational pipelines. We conducted a scoping review following PRISMA-ScR and the Population-Concept-Context framework, including peer-reviewed original studies on adults (≥18 years) that applied radiomics or deep-radiomics to hip imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI, DEXA) with clinically relevant outcomes. PubMed (MEDLINE), Embase and Scopus (Elsevier) were searched from 1 January 2021 to 30 August 20

YOLOv10-PDTFN: An integrated ROI segmentation and transformer fusion framework for osteoporosis classification in knee radiographs.

INTRODUCTION: Reduced bone mineral density and degeneration of bone microarchitecture are hallmarks of Osteoporosis, a degenerative skeletal condition that raises the risk of fractures. Due to the subjective nature of conventional radiography assessment and the potential for inter-observer variability, early diagnosis and osteoporosis grading remain clinical challenges. Although recent developments in deep learning have demonstrated promise in automating diagnostic tasks, it is still challenging to identify contextual structural patterns and minor trabecular alterations in radiographs. The role of artificial intelligence in the diagnosis and prognosis of traumatic brain injury based on brain CT scans: a systematic review.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of emergency department visits and a major contributor to injury-related mortality and long-term neurological disability. Non-contrast computed tomography (CT) is the gold-standard imaging modality for the rapid diagnosis of TBI. Clinical outcomes depend strongly on early detection and prompt acute management. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based models may support faster automated identification of traumatic findings and early prediction of patient prognosis. A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, IEEE Xplore, ACM

Early Longitudinal Changes in Radiomic Tumor Heterogeneity Predict Progression-Free Survival in Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Radiomic features derived from longitudinal imaging offer a non-invasive approach to quantify tumor heterogeneity, but their integration with clinical variables in small cohorts remains methodologically challenging. We analyzed 23 patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) enrolled in a Phase I study of pembrolizumab and vorinostat. Radiomic features were extracted from baseline and two-month follow-up computed tomography scans, aggregated to the patient level, and transformed into delta features representing early changes over time. A unified modeling framework was implemented

Establishment of an MRI-Based Diagnostic Approach to Identify Critical Pulpal Inflammation Zones in a Rat Caries-Derived Pulpitis Model.

AIM: To establish a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based diagnostic approach for identifying 'critical pulpal inflammation' zones in a rat model of caries-derived pulpitis. METHODOLOGY: Caries-derived pulpitis was induced in the molars of Sprague-Dawley rats using the caries-derived pulpitis model. T2-weighted images by 7 Tesla MRI and micro-computed tomography (CT) images were taken weekly to sequentially monitor the caries progression and pulp conditions in the same individuals. Caries lesions were classified into moderate, severe and exposed groups with reference to the micro-CT images.

Methodology for generating chorioallantoic membrane patient-derived xenograft (CAM-PDX) models of pleural mesothelioma and performing preclinical imaging for the translation of cancer studies and drug screening.

BACKGROUND: Pleural mesothelioma is a cancer of the lung lining associated with asbestos exposure. Platinum/pemetrexed chemotherapy has been used for many years but provides little benefit and, despite recent immunotherapy advances, prognosis remains poor underpinning the need for development of novel therapeutics or drug repurposing. Fertilized hens' eggs provide a rapid and cost-effective alternative to murine models of pleural mesothelioma which are commonly used in preclinical studies, with chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) xenografts being a partial replacement for mouse flank xenografts.
