BACKGROUND: The Chondral Lesions and Meniscal Procedures (ChAMP) trial observed the effect of debridement on unstable chondral lesions (CLs) encountered during arthroscopic partial meniscectomy (APM) while following a cohort with no CL to compare outcomes. At 5 years after APM, patients in the ChAMP Trial without unstable CLs had better outcomes than those with unstable CLs left in situ.

We report 3 cases of isolated deep peroneal nerve injury as a complication of arthroscopic knee surgery. At the level of the knee joint, the deep and superficial peroneal nerves are usually joined as the common peroneal nerve. However, because of the fascicular structure, a partial nerve injury can result in an isolated injury to the deep peroneal nerve fibers. Due to the intraneural topography of the peroneal nerve, electrodiagnostic studies in a partial nerve injury may erroneously indicate a more distal lesion.

In a suburban area of Copenhagen with approximately 620,000 inhabitants, all the openly operated on meniscal lesions of the knee joint between 1982 and 1984 inclusive were reviewed.
