This study examined the occurrence of placental C-reactive protein (CRP) in normal pregnancy with term delivery, spontaneous preterm delivery (sPTD), preeclampsia, and miscarriage. CRP immunoreactivity was detected in the syncytiotrophoblast. The immunopositive rate was significantly higher in sPTD than preeclampsia.
