Tubular networks like the vasculature extend branches throughout animal bodies, but how developing vessels interact with and invade tissues is not well understood. We investigated the underlying mechanisms using the developing tracheal tube network of Drosophila indirect flight muscles (IFMs) as a model. We herein report 2 Japanese patients with X-linked Alport syndrome (XLAS), with a novel variant in COL4A5. BACKGROUND: Thin glomerular basement membrane disease (TBMD) is a nephropathy defined by diffuse thinning of the glomerular basement membrane (GBM) at electron microscopy examination, without the alterations of Alport's syndrome (ATS). Fibronectin and collagen I, III, IV, V distribution in preexisting and newly formed connective tissue of fibroadenomas and leaf-like human breast tumour was studied by the immunofluorescent method. Extracellular matrix of a newly formed connective tissue was characterized by the predominance of collagen type III, the presence of collagen type IV, a high content of fibronectin in a leaf-like tumour. Such characteristics of the extracellular matrix structure in benign tumours are interpreted as a manifestation of desmoplasia.
