The paper shows the value of the activities of a medical sanitary detachment from the complex expedition of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1925-1930) in the development of surgical treatment for bone and joint tuberculosis and its sequelae in adults from Yakutia. A total of 981 operations were made from 1951 to 1994. We present an updated taxonomic account of a few of the large branchiopod species present in the collections of the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History. Our study shows that the Artemia species in the collections is not Artemia salina given the presence of spines at the base of the penis and its frontal knob morphology.
