A very rare case of gliosarcoma of the pineal region with cerebellar metastasis is presented. A few cases of glioblastoma and fibrosarcoma have already been published however there was no reported case with gliosarcoma at the pineal region even with cerebellar metastases.

BACKGROUND: Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma (LGFMS) is a rare malignant tumor. Moreover, only 3 cases of LGFMS originating from the nasal cavity and/or paranasal sinuses have been published so far.
METHODS: Two patients with histologically confirmed LGFMS of the maxillary sinus were primarily treated by open and endoscopic surgery. In one case adjuvant radiotherapy was indicated because of the uncertainty of the surgical margins.

A BALB/c mouse-passaged methylcholanthrene-induced fibrosarcoma tumor caused severe impairment of resistance to systemic listeriosis. The clinical courses are presented for 6 patients with sarcoma of the spermatic cord seen between 1967 and 1976. There were 3 fibrosarcomas, 2 liposarcomas and 1 malignant fibrous histiocytoma, making the total reported cases of spermatic cord sarcoma 212. Management of spermatic cord sarcoma is discussed.

Four patients with prenatal sonographic findings suggestive of ophthalmic pathology were detected in utero. The definitive diagnoses of infantile fibrosarcoma, persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous/persistent fetal vasculature, Fraser syndrome, and microphthalmia with coloboma and retrobulbar cyst were made postnatally. High-resolution intrauterine sonograms expedited ophthalmic referral and influenced prenatal planning.

Low grade fibromyxoid sarcoma (LGFMS) is an uncommon variant of fibrosarcoma with high risk of local recurrence, immense metastatic potential and frequently protracted period between tumour presentation and metastasis. Apoptosis in tumor and normal tissues was examined in rats treated with whole-body hyperthermia (WBH; 41.5 degrees C for 2 h). WBH alone produced 0.5 day of tumor growth delay (TGD) in a fibrosarcoma and 5.8 days of TGD in the Ward colon carcinoma. This difference in WBH-induced TGD indicates that the fibrosarcoma is relatively resistant to WBH, whereas the Ward colon carcinoma is relatively heat sensitive. Malignant changes in polyostotic fibrous dysplasia are very rare. Most common malignancies reported are osteosarcoma and fibrosarcoma, chondrosarcoma and malignant fibrous histiocytoma.
