Miller Class III and IV gingival recession defects have interdental bone and soft-tissue loss that limit root coverage. Given the importance of the interdental papilla, protecting the integrity of this structure would seem prudent. Tunnel techniques have been successfully used to protect the interdental papilla. This article discusses the results of two cases in which multiple Miller Class III gingival recession defects were treated using tunnel-grafting techniques and an acellular dermal matrix. In both cases, root coverage was achieved while protecting the interdental papilla height.

This clinical report describes the treatment of excessive gingival recession involving maxillary right and left central incisors in a 30-year-old woman. The loss of the gingival soft tissue caused an increase in crown length. Gingiva-colored partial porcelain laminate veneers were applied to imitate the lost gingiva and to provide a natural anatomical tooth length. This method may be a minimally invasive alternative treatment method for gingival soft tissue loss, providing esthetic results and patient satisfaction.

The recession of the gingiva is increasingly becoming a prominent condition in the oral health of many patients and should be treated at its earliest detection. Part I of this discussion reviewed the multifactorial etiology and decision modality; a treatment option was demonstrated for gingival recession using the tunneling technique. This concluding part of the discussion highlights two clinical cases using alternative approaches. The correction of Class I and II gingival recessions are presented as a means of minimizing surgical trauma and achieving predictable aesthetic results.
