Atopic Dermatitis and Food Allergy: Best Practices and Knowledge Gaps-A Work Group Report from the AAAAI Allergic Skin Diseases Committee and Leadership Institute Project.

Allergists are often asked to evaluate children with atopic dermatitis (AD) for allergen triggers to disease. Testing, particularly for food triggers, often leads to elimination diets in an effort to improve AD control. However, the dual exposure hypothesis suggests that oral tolerance to food antigens is promoted through high-dose oral exposure, where sensitization occurs through lower dose cutaneous exposure. This suggests that strict elimination diets may pose some risks in children with AD. In addition, emerging evidence suggests an important role of skin inflammation in further allergic d

Complementary feeding practices and the associated risk of childhood obesity among ethnic minority groups living in high-income countries: protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Complementary feeding (CF) is defined as the period from when exclusive breast milk and formula are no longer sufficient for meeting the infant's nutritional needs. The CF period occurs from birth to 23 months of age. Though the recommended guidelines for introducing CF is from around 6 months of age, data indicates that some infants are introduced to food earlier than 6 months which can predispose children to obesity and overweight. Obesity in ethnic minority groups (EMG) is higher than their native counterparts and often tracks into adulthood. Hence, our aim was to conduct a sy

Consensus Guidelines and Recommendations for The CD38 Monoclonal Antibody-based Quadruplet Therapy and Management in Clinical Practice for Newly Diagnosed Multiple Myeloma: From the Pan-Pacific Multiple Myeloma Working Group.

The therapeutic outcomes of clinical trials for incorporating anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies (including isatuximab and daratumumab) into the bortezomib/lenalidomide/dexamethasone (VRd) triplet therapy backbone as the first-line treatment for newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) have demonstrated significant improved efficacies. From a safety perspective, the addition of anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies into the triplet therapies did not raise additional safety concerns. Based on the promising results, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Guidelines Version 1.2025 had updated the

Patterns of practice of androgen deprivation therapy combined to radiotherapy in favorable and unfavorable intermediate risk prostate cancer. Results of The PROACT Survey from the French GETUG Radiation Oncology group.

PURPOSE: The intermediate-risk (IR) prostate cancer (PCa) group is heterogeneous in terms of prognosis. For unfavorable or favorable IR PCa treated by radiotherapy, the optimal strategy remains to be defined. In routine practice, the physician's decision to propose hormonal therapy (HT) is controversial. The PROACT survey aimed to evaluate pattern and preferences of daily practice in France in this IR population. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A web questionnaire was distributed to French radiotherapy members of 91 centers of the Groupe d'Etude des Tumeurs Uro-Genitales (GETUG). The questionnaire inc

Allogeneic and autologous transplantation for haematological diseases, solid tumours and immune disorders: current practice in Europe in 1998. Accreditation Sub-Committee of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.

In 1996, the Accreditation Sub-Committee of the EBMT published a special report summarising current practice in Europe in relation to haemopoietic stem cell transplants for haematological diseases, solid tumours and immune disorders. An updated report is presented here. The major change has been the recognition that transplant practice is appreciably different between children and adults, who should therefore be considered in separate categories. The autoimmune disorders for which autografting may be useful are now specified. Non-CML myeloproliferative disorders and AL amyloidosis have been ad

Overview of 2025 Clinical Practice Guideline Update by the Infectious Diseases Society of America on Group A Streptococcal (GAS) Pharyngitis: Risk Assessment Using Clinical Scoring Systems in Children and Adults.

This publication represents the first part of an update to the clinical practice guideline on the diagnosis and management of group A streptococcal (GAS) pharyngitis, developed by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). Diagnosis of GAS pharyngitis by clinician judgment alone is unreliable, and universal testing incurs cost and inconvenience for individuals at low risk of having GAS infection. Clinical scoring systems have been used to quantify the probability of a positive GAS throat culture based on standardized criteria such as the presence of fever, tonsillar enlargement or exud

Epidemiology and patterns of empiric antimicrobial therapy practice in patients with community-onset sepsis using data from a Japanese nationwide medical claims database-the Japan Sepsis Alliance (JaSA) study group.

OBJECTIVES: We aimed to describe empiric antimicrobial options for patients with community-onset sepsis using nationwide real-world data from Japan. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study used nationwide Japanese data from a medical reimbursement system database. Patients aged ≥20 years with both presumed infections and acute organ dysfunction who were admitted to hospitals from the outpatient department or emergency department between 2010 and 2017 were enrolled. We described the initial choices of antimicrobials for patients with sepsis stratified by intensive care unit (ICU) or ward. RE

A practical guide to laboratory investigations at diagnosis and follow up in Waldenström macroglobulinaemia: recommendations from the Medical and Scientific Advisory Group, Myeloma Australia, the Pathology Sub-committee of the Lymphoma and Related Diseases Registry and the Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists Monoclonal Gammopathy Working Group.

Waldenström macroglobulinaemia (WM) is an indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma which usually presents with symptoms related to infiltration of bone marrow or other tissues like lymph nodes, liver or spleen and has certain unusual clinical manifestations, e.g., renal and central nervous system (CNS) involvement. It also has an array of laboratory features including hypersecretion of IgM, cryoglobulinaemia, increased plasma viscosity and identification of mutated MYD88L265P in more than 90% of cases. In this review, we aim to provide a guide to the laboratory investigations recommended for WM at initia

NRG Oncology and Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group Patterns of Practice Survey and Consensus Recommendations on Pencil-Beam Scanning Proton Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy and Hypofractionated Radiation Therapy for Thoracic Malignancies.

Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and hypofractionation using pencil-beam scanning (PBS) proton therapy (PBSPT) is an attractive option for thoracic malignancies. Combining the advantages of target coverage conformity and critical organ sparing from both PBSPT and SBRT, this new delivery technique has great potential to improve the therapeutic ratio, particularly for tumors near critical organs. Safe and effective implementation of PBSPT SBRT/hypofractionation to treat thoracic malignancies is more challenging than the conventionally fractionated PBSPT because of concerns of amplified

Practice parameters for the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with autism and other pervasive developmental disorders. American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Working Group on Quality Issues.

Autism and the related pervasive developmental disorders are characterized by patterns of delay and deviance in the development of social, communicative, and cognitive skills, which arise in the first years of life. Although frequently associated with mental retardation, these conditions are distinctive in terms of their course and treatment. These conditions have a wide range of syndrome expression, and their management presents particular challenges for clinicians. Individuals with these conditions can present for clinical care at any point in development. The multiple developmental and beha

Patterns of germline and somatic testing after universal tumor screening for Lynch syndrome: A clinical practice survey of active members of the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Gastrointestinal Cancer.

Clinical guidelines recommend universal tumor screening (UTS) of colorectal and endometrial cancers for Lynch syndrome (LS). There are limited guidelines for how to integrate germline testing and somatic tumor testing after a mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) tumor is identified. We sought to characterize current practice patterns and barriers to preferred practice among clinical providers in high-risk cancer programs. A clinical practice survey was sent to 423 active members of the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Gastrointestinal Cancer (CGA-IGC) with a follow-up survey sent t

Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention of Cardiovascular Toxicity Related to Anti-Cancer Treatment in Clinical Practice: An Opinion Paper from the Working Group on Cardio-Oncology of the Korean Society of Echocardiography.

Cardiovascular (CV) toxicity associated with anti-cancer treatment is commonly encountered and raises critical problems that often result in serious morbidity or mortality. Most cardiac toxicities are related to the cumulative dose of chemotherapy; however, the type of chemotherapy, concomitant agents, and/or conventional CV risk factors have been frequently implicated in CV toxicity. Approximately half of the patients exhibiting CV toxicity receive an anthracycline-based regimen. Therefore, serologic biomarkers or cardiac imagings are important during anti-cancer treatment for early detection

Proposal for a revised definition of dilated cardiomyopathy, hypokinetic non-dilated cardiomyopathy, and its implications for clinical practice: a position statement of the ESC working group on myocardial and pericardial diseases.

In this paper the Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Disease proposes a revised definition of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in an attempt to bridge the gap between our recent understanding of the disease spectrum and its clinical presentation in relatives, which is key for early diagnosis and the institution of potential preventative measures. We also provide practical hints to identify subsets of the DCM syndrome where aetiology directed management has great clinical relevance.

The validity and utility of the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory in patients with prostate cancer: evidence from the Symptom Outcomes and Practice Patterns (SOAPP) data from the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group.

BackgroundThe MD Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI) is a psychometrically validated patient-reported outcome measure that assesses the severity and impact of multiple symptoms related to cancer and its treatment and has the potential to guide treatment specific to patients with prostate cancer. Although the original MDASI validation study encompassed various cancer types, the instrument's psychometric properties have not been examined in a large homogeneous sample of patients with prostate cancer.Patients and methodsThis study involved secondary analysis of data from the nationwide multicenter
