Case1 was a 52-year-old man who had recurrence of postoperative intra-abdominal disseminations from gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) of the jejunum. Case2 was a 66-year-old man who had GIST of the jejunum with multiple liver metastases. Two cases presented hemoperitoneum caused by administration of imatinib mesylate, and we conducted emergent surgery. In spite of surgically non-curative cases, it is suggested that the surgical management for GIST of high grade group with peritoneal exposure should be followed by the administration of imatinib mesylate.

BACKGROUND: Spontaneous hemoperitoneum in pregnancy (SHiP) refers to fluid collection in the abdominal cavity with a vague presentation of clinical symptoms. Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a type of necrotizing vasculitis associated with high levels of myeloperoxidase-specific antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (MPO-ANCA). While generally associated with renal dysfunction, MPA can also cause intraabdominal hemorrhage in rare cases. A 66-year-old man was admitted to our hospital for renal dysfunction, numbness, and weight loss for 3 months. He had no significant medical history. Renal biopsy revealed crescentic glomerulonephritis with necrotizing vasculitis, which was associated with a high serum titer of MPO-ANCA, leading to a diagnosis of MPA.

Three hundred seventy small-breed dogs (<15 kg) undergoing splenectomy for the presence of nodular splenic lesions were evaluated in a retrospective study to assess associations with breeds, malignancy, hemoperitoneum, and median survival time compared with previous studies. Uterine leiomyomas are very common tumors found in women. Rupture of veins on the surface of uterine leiomyoma is an unusual source of hemoperitoneum. It is an extremely uncommon gynaecological cause of hemoperitoneum. It is a life threatening emergency. We report a case of massive intraperitoneal hemorrhage due to rupture of vessels on the surface of subserous leiomyoma. A differential diagnosis of rupture of leiomyoma'ssurface vessel should be considered, while dealing with a case of hemoperitoneum with pelvic mass.
