Iron deficiency anemia is a cause of reactive thrombocytosis. A moderate increase in platelet numbers is common but sometimes counts may exceed 1,000 x 10(9)/l. The effects of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and its major metabolite, 11-OH delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (11-OH THC) on mitogen driven lymphocyte blastogenic transformation (LBT) were studied.
