BACKGROUND: To describe the clinical and histopathological features of lymphomas involving the iris.
DESIGN: Retrospective, descriptive study.
PARTICIPANTS: Fourteen eyes of 13 patients.
METHODS: Review of medical records.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Clinical and histopathological findings.
RESULTS: Median patient age was 58 years (range, 25-76 years). Seven patients had known systemic lymphoma of which five were of large B-cell type. PURPOSE: To assess the safety and efficacy of implantation of prosthetic iris devices in patients with albinism.
SETTING: Private practice, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

BACKGROUND: Aniridia (or partial aniridia) often occurs as a result of a penetrating ocular trauma. This condition may cause symptoms including glare, light sensitivity, reduced vision, and asymmetric appearance. BACKGROUND: Iris neovascularization (IN) with a secondary angle closure glaucoma is a complication of central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO). Its incidence is greatly underestimated.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: In a retrospective study we analyzed all patients with CRAO seen within 2 years who were treated in our department. We looked especially for the frequency of the occurrence of IN.

We describe 6 patients who presented with cataract or aphakia and absent or nonfunctional irides. The etiologies included congenital aniridia, traumatic iris loss, and chronic mydriasis secondary to recurrent herpetic uveitis. In 5 eyes, a prosthetic iris was successfully implanted in combination with small incision cataract surgery. In 2 eyes, a single-piece iris diaphragm and optical lens was implanted. Artificial irides offer a safe alternative for patients who previously had no viable options for iris reconstruction.

Isoforms of the facilitated glucose transporter (GLUT) were identified in the iris-ciliary body. BACKGROUND: Peripheral primary cyst of the iris is an uncommon benign condition that may masquerade as a tumor of the ciliary body. Careful examination utilizing the slit lamp and gonioscopy is necessary to successfully differentiate the two.
CONCLUSIONS: Given their uncommon occurrence and the importance of ruling out melanoma or other malignancies, this review is a guide in the evaluation and diagnosis of patients with this condition.
