BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Uveal schwannoma is a rare benign neoplastic proliferation of pure Schwann cells. The purpose of this study was to describe MR imaging features of uveal schwannoma.

The 32P uptake test used in the differential diagnosis of 912 cases yielded an accuracy rate of 94.82% for intraocular lesions behind the equator, and 85.15% for lesions of the anterior uvea. The highest error rate occurred in patients with suspected tumors of the iris and ciliary body. It seems advisable to take a 40% difference on the uptake as the limit between a positive or negative test result.

A retrospective clinicopathologic study of 189 iris and iris and ciliary body lesions originally diagnosed as melanomas led to a nine-part histopathologic classification. Eighty-seven percent of lesions were reassigned to six benign categories and 13% were assigned to three malignant ones (spindle-B and epithelioid cell melanomas). There were no tumor deaths. AIM: To report the results of whole anterior segment proton beam radiotherapy (PBR) for diffuse iris melanoma.
METHODS: Between 2000 and 2011, 12 patients with iris melanoma received PBR to the entire iris and ciliary body.
RESULTS: Patients had a mean age of 57 years and a median follow-up of 3.5 years (range 1-11.6 years). Tumour iris involvement was 1-4 h in five patients, 5-8 h in four and 9-12 h in three. CASE REPORT: We report the clinical features and surgery of a patient with an adenoma of the non-pigmented ciliary epithelium. The adenoma measured 5 × 7 mm. The patient underwent radical ocular surgery consisting of partial iridocyclectomy associated to lamellar sclerouvectomy.
DISCUSSION: Adenomas of ciliary body can mimic clinically amelanotic melanomas. We present details of the patient's medical records and review the literature. Clinically, adenoma in ciliary body can mimic amelanotic melanomas. Conservative surgery of the eye allows diagnosis and treatment, maintaining visual function.

The clinical and detailed angiographical findings taken during the follow-up of 182 patients with tumors of the iris and the ciliary body reported. On the basis of different angiographic staining patterns, these tumors were divided into three groups. METHODS: Twenty-two eyes (22 patients) with anterior uveal melanomas were treated with (103)Pd ophthalmic plaque radiation therapy. Feline diffuse iris melanoma (FDIM) is the most common primary ocular tumour in cats, with metastatic disease occurring in 19-63% of patients. Greater intraocular invasion correlates with increased mortality. PURPOSE: To report a patient with a tumor-like corneal keloid.
METHODS: Retrospective review of clinical features and histopathologic findings.
RESULTS: A 68-year-old woman with a remote history of an orbital tumor treated with radiation developed a corneal tumor. A biopsy of the tumor showed fibrocellular tissue, and her blind painful eye was enucleated. Pathologic findings in the enucleated eye showed that the corneal mass was consistent with a large keloid.
CONCLUSIONS: A corneal keloid may clinically appear as a large corneal tumor.
