Primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the mandible: A case report.

INTRODUCTION: Lymphomas are a heterogeneous group of malignant neoplasms of lymphocytes and their precursor cells. Lymphoma is seen 3.5% of all intraoral malignancies and is the second most common neoplasm after the squamous cell carcinoma in the head and neck region. Diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCL), which is a subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, are seen mostly in the paraoral region. CASE PRESENTATION: An 82-year-old woman was referred with a localised swelling of the mandibular buccal mucosa for 3 months. Excisional biopsy revealed the diagnosis of DLBCL in the mandible and chemotherap

Pleural involvement of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma mimicking malignant pleural mesothelioma.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a common cancer in haematology. We report a case of DLBCL mimicking malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM). A 75-year-old man with a 1-week exacerbation of dyspnoea on exertion and right pleural effusion on chest radiography was admitted to our hospital. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography revealed diffuse pleural thick lesions and massive pleural effusion, and these lesions had accumulation of fluorodeoxyglucose. Because we suspected MPM or lung cancer, we performed a biopsy with thoracoscopy to confirm the diagnosis. A biopsy of the pleural

The potential role of glycogen metabolism in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a common and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that may become refractory to available standard therapies, resulting in the need for the development of novel therapeutic targets. Increased metabolic activity of DLBCL tumor cells associated with high expression of glycolysis related proteins, such as glucose transporters and hexokinases, have already been described and indicates a pivotal role for glucose and glycogen metabolism in the malignant progression of the disease. Moreover, several enzymes involved in glycolysis and glycogen metabolism, in

[A Case of Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma of the Ascending Colon].

A 72-year-old man presented with right lower abdominal pain. Abdominal enhanced CT showed a large tumor in the ascending colon. Colonoscopyrevealed a type 2 tumor infiltrating three-quarters of the ascending colon. The biopsyspecimen showed a malignant lymphoma. Thus, the patient underwent ileocecal resection with D3 lymph node dissection. The histopathological diagnosis was primarydiffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the ascending colon. Post-operative PET-CT showed disseminated extra-nodal involvement, Stage Ⅳ(Lugano staging system). He was administered 2 courses of rituximab plus cyclophosphami

Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma Recurring as Neurolymphomatosis on FDG PET/CT.

Two patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma relapsing as neurolymphomatosis diagnosed on FDG PET/CT are presented. Both patients were treated initially with chemotherapy and had a complete metabolic response. Patient 1 represented with lower-limb pain. An FDG PET/CT demonstrated intense uptake throughout the sciatic nerves bilaterally extending distally with relapse confirmed on biopsy. Patient 2 represented to hospital with worsening mobility, neuropathic pain, and facial asymmetry. An FDG PET/CT demonstrated relapse within the spinal cord, left sciatic nerve, and facial nerve branches. N

How I manage patients with relapsed/refractory diffuse large B cell lymphoma.

Despite progress in the upfront treatment of diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL), patients still experience relapses. Salvage chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is the standard second-line treatment for relapsed and refractory (R/R) DLBCL. However, half of the patients will not be eligible for transplantation due to ineffective salvage treatment, and the other half will relapse after ASCT. In randomized studies, no salvage chemotherapy regimen is superior to another. The outcomes are affected by the secondary International Prognostic Index at relapse and var

Hyperfibrinogenemia is a poor prognostic factor in diffuse large B cell lymphoma.

Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphomas worldwide. Previous studies indicated that hyperfibrinogenemia was a poor predictor in various tumors. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the prognostic effect of hyperfibrinogenemia in DLBCL. Data of 228 patients, who were diagnosed with DLBCL in our hospital between May 2009 and February 2016, were analyzed retrospectively. The Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression were performed to find prognostic factors associated with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Receiver operato

Epidemiologic, prognostic, and treatment factors in sinonasal diffuse large B -cell lymphoma.

OBJECTIVES: To further characterize the epidemiology, prognostic disease-specific factors, and treatment outcomes-including newly available chemotherapy data-for patients with sinonasal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). METHODS: The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results registry was queried from 1973 to 2015 for patients with DLBCL of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. Demographic and disease parameters were collected. Prognostic disease-specific survival and overall survival factors were evaluated with univariate Kaplan-Meier analysis. Significant variables were analyzed with

Clinical impact of prognostic nutritional index in diffuse large B cell lymphoma.

We evaluated the association between the prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and the clinical features of diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and developed a novel prognostic model using a nomogram including the PNI and other biomarkers for cancer cachexia. A total of 228 DLBCL patients treated with first-line R-CHOP (rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone) were retrospectively reviewed. PNI was calculated as 10 × serum levels of albumin (g/dL) + 0.005 × absolute lymphocyte count (/mm3). Patients were categorized into low- and high-PNI groups based on a cut-

CNS relapse of diffuse large B cell Lymphoma A single centre experience.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Central nervous system (CNS) relapse of diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is relatively uncommon and nearly fatal. Two years CNS relapse risk is 0.8% in low, 3.9% in intermediate and 12% in high risk patients. Our aim was to study, the baseline characteristics and outcome in term of median survival of DLBCL patients with CNS relapse. METHODS: This is a retrospective analysis. All patients of DLBCL with CNS relapse from 2006 to 2014 were included. Data were collected from computerized Hospital Information System and analyzed for characteristics and median survival

[Research Advances in the Epigenetics of Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma-Review].

The pathogenesis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL) has not been fully elucidated, but people realized that the occurrence of DLBCL is caused by the mutual change of genetics and epigenetics with the rapid development of modern biological technology. Epigenetics is to explore the expression changes of genes and proteins without the changes of gene sequences, and this change is reversible and can be inherited. In this review, the latest advances of epigenetic changes in DNA methylation, microRNA regulation, and histone modification for DLBCL are summarized, so as to provide a new strategy

Cytogenetic analysis of de novo CD5-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

AIMS: De novo CD5-positive diffuse large B cell lymphoma (CD5+DLBL) is a subtype of DLBL with poor clinical outcome. To investigate the cytogenetic pathogenesis of CD5+DLBL, we analyzed the chromosomal findings of 18 patients with CD5+DLBL. METHODS: Tumor cells were cultured and metaphase was captured by colchicine exposure. Using trypsin-Giemsa banding, the chromosomes were analyzed according to the International System for Human Cytogenetic Nomenclature. RESULTS: Metaphase was acquired from 12 patients. Normal karyotypes were seen in two patients and abnormal karyotypes in the remaining 10
