Renin-angiotensin system inhibitors should be considered as the first-line therapy in the treatment of patients with hypertension and diabetes. Ninety patients with alopecia areata were treated with weekly applications to one side of the head of dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) dissolved in acetone, the other side of the head serving as control region. In 80 patients (89%) hair regrew either exclusively on the treated side, or considerably faster and denser on this side. The difference was noted, in the majority of cases, within eight weeks. The detection of nitroaromatic compounds, best known as raw materials in explosives preparations, is important in many fields including environmental science, public security and forensics. CdSe quantum dots capped with PAMAM-G(4) dendrimer were synthetized in water and used for the detection of trace amounts of three nitroaromatic compounds: 4-methoxy-2-nitrophenol (MNP), 2-amine-5-chloro-1,3-dinitrobenzene (ACNB) and 3-methoxy-4-nitrobenzoic acid (MNB). To increase the apparent water solubility of these compounds α-cyclodextrin (α-CD) was used to promote the formation of inclusion complexes.

For qualitative and quantitative analysis of musk ambrette and 4 other nitromusk compounds (musk ketone, moskene, musk tibetine, musk xylene) thin layer chromatography (TLC) and high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) techniques were developed. Twenty-one patients with alopecia were screened for the immune reactivity of their peripheral blood lymphocytes. Generally, patients had only eczematous reactions when rather strong solutions of dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) were applied.
