Proactive health behavior may enhance maternal well-being during pregnancy, yet the concept remains insufficiently defined in pregnancy-related care and nursing practice. This study used Rodgers' evolutionary method of concept analysis to clarify the concept and its relevance for holistic nursing practice. A structured search of 7 electronic databases identified 17 eligible publications from 2015 to 2026. The analysis identified 3 antecedent domains: individual characteristics, interpersonal resources, and sociodemographic and cultural contexts. Six core attributes were delineated: proactive c

The objective of this study was to assess the perceptions of some Nigerian nurses on the various societal beliefs about teething. A cross sectional survey was conducted among 542 nurses in the teaching, general and Local Government hospitals and clinics in Ibadan, a city in south western Nigeria. Furthermore, 82,1%, 61,4% and 27,9 % of them implicated fever, diarrhoea and boils respectively as sign

Access to high-quality healthcare requires a qualified health workforce supported by a robust regulatory framework, an overarching legal structure governing regulation of health professionals. Its effectiveness depends on how well its regulatory functions are carried out. Implementing these functions requires regulatory systems that provide organizational arrangements for each health profession. This study focuses on the nursing regulatory systems in Lao PDR and Mongolia to identify key factors influencing their strengthening and extract policy insights to inform efforts to strengthen nursing

Blood transfusion is a frequent and high-risk clinical procedure that requires up-to-date technical knowledge and well-structured educational support to ensure patient safety. Despite its widespread use, there is a shortage of validated educational technologies specifically designed to support nursing education and professional training in transfusion care. This study aimed to develop and validate the content of an educational manual on nursing care in blood transfusion. Methodological study was conducted in two phases: development of the manual based on a scoping review and instructional desi

Although psychosocial interventions are widely implemented, there is limited evidence regarding the structured development of nursing-led psychotherapeutic programmes grounded in nursing theory.
AIMS: To develop a structured, theory-informed, nursing-led psychotherapeutic programme aimed at promoting coping and psychological adaptation in adults living with cancer.
METHODS: This qualitative study reports the final stages of a multi-phase programme development proces

Although previously developed qualitative studies have explored the experience of illness of individuals with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, these findings have not been undertaken for the purpose of enabling the identification of nursing care needs in such patients. This study aims to identify NANDA-I nursing diagnoses of adults with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome based on a qualitative literature review of their experience of illness. The protocol includes: searches in the electronic databases Medline, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI, Sci

This paper brings together the perspective of both nurses and patients of the experience of nursing care delivery in acute care hospital settings. Initially, two grounded theory studies of the phenomenon of high-quality nursing care were conducted concurrently and in the same settings; one focussed on patients' experiences (Irurita, 1993. From person to patient: nursing care from the patient's perspective. Department of Nursing Research, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital), the other on those of nurses (Williams, 1994. Unpublished report, Department of Nursing Research Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

An essential component of the learning process for nursing and other disciplines in health professions education is the structuring of successful clinical experiences for beginning students. The purpose of this research study was to explore and describe first patient care experiences of baccalaureate nursing students in order to better understand student perspectives and perceptions. Data were collected from three cohorts of baccalaureate nursing in two university settings in the first semester following completion of first patient care experiences. A basic, exploratory qualitative approach wi

In the pediatric near-drowning victim, hypoxia and related pathophysiologic factors affect the pulmonary, neurologic, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and renal systems. Other complications arise from the potential for infection; the immobile state; and anxiety and fear related to the hospitalization. Altered coping mechanisms and knowledge deficits related to home care and drowning prevention offer problems that the family must overcome during the recovery of their child from the near-drowning insult. Using this knowledge and the accurate, comprehensive ongoing nursing assessments, the nurse

INTRODUCTION: Borderline personality disorder is a commonly encountered disorder in psychiatry. This diagnosis is rarely given despite the benefits of its disclosure. Recommendations concerning diagnosis disclosure in psychiatry have recently been published. An analysis of the disclosure process in an outpatient team for young adults enables the identification of areas for improvement in this process, as well as nursing actions to facilitate health-illness transitions.
METHOD: A clinical audit was conducted through a study involving a retrospective quantitative section based on an analysis of

The CNOR certification is a voluntary commitment that individual perioperative nurses make after considering financial, professional, and personal issues. The results of this survey indicate that CNOR certification is sought to fulfill personal and professional goals. A vital component in the delivery of quality perioperative patient care is the individual nurse. This is true whether or not the perioperative nurse is certified. One question is the value of the CNOR process in the validation of nurses for the delivery of perioperative patient care. It is easy to assume that if knowledge is pres

WHAT IS KNOWN ON THE SUBJECT?: It is generally accepted that all interventions carried out by mental health nurses involve engagement with the patient; this engagement is a process that is gradually constructed and is not immediate. In Spain during last decade, nurses working in assertive outreach teams have gradually replaced the traditional institutional setting in favour of environments that are more familiar to the patient. In contrast, when patients and nurses interact outside institutional settings, a new approach and skillset is required in order to adapt to the new environment. WHAT TH
