OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical efficacy and reliability of citalopram in the treatment of premature ejaculation.
METHODS: We included in this study 80 patients who came to our andrological clinic for premature ejaculation from May 2011 to May 2012, and randomly assigned them to a treatment and a control group of equal number to receive citalopram (20 mg/d) and placebo, respectively. We recorded the intravaginal ejaculation latency time (IELT) and sexual intercourse satisfaction scores before and at 2 and 4 weeks after treatment, and compared them between the two groups.

N(2)-isobutyrylguanine was prepared by treatment of guanine with isobutyryl chloride. Two tautomers, 1,7-dihydro-2-(isobutyroyl)amino-6H-purin-6-one and 1,9-dihydro-2-(isobutyroyl)amino-6H-purin-6-one, were identified in almost 1:1 ratio in dichloromethane-dimethyl sulfoxide (1:1 v/v) by NMR spectroscopy. By using the selective-inversion experiments, enthalpy, entropy, and free energy for activation were determined. This work represents the first report of guanine tautomers observed directly by NMR spectroscopy.

Leukonychia is a medical term for white discoloration appearing on nails. The pathophysiologic mechanisms that cause white discoloration are not entirely clear. We processed a case of leukonychia with scanning electron microscope observation and found many crispy, obviously dissociated "layers" in the lower part of the white nail plate. The dissociated "layers" were composed of thick, loose, coarse keratin bundles intertwined with each other. We believe the dissociated "layers" are related to the clinically noted white discoloration appearing on the nails.
