Adoption of App-Based Peer Support by Canadian Health Care Providers: Mixed Methods Organizational Implementation Study.

BACKGROUND: There is an urgent and critical need to support the mental health of health care providers, given high rates of stress and burnout. Although the issues are complex, digital access to information and support can help address the needs, as technology can facilitate on-demand links to private, customized resources, including peer support. Beyond Silence (McMaster University) is an evidence-informed mobile health platform co-designed with health care workers and grounded in prior evidence that mental health literacy and peer support can reduce stigma and facilitate earlier help-seeking

School-based clinics: their role in helping students meet the 1990 objectives.

Service statistics and observations from site visits across the country indicate that school-based clinics (SBCs) may be having an impact on several of the problems targeted in the 1990 health objectives, including unplanned pregnancy and substance abuse. At least 120 junior and senior high schools in 61 communities are currently operating or developing clinics. Growth is attributed to increasing concern about high-risk youth, especially among educators in their roles of "surrogate parents"; to disillusion with categorical interventions and a movement toward more comprehensive services; and to

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate an organizational model for neonatal population screening for developmental dysplasia of the hip. METHODS: In 4648 neonates born in six hospitals of the Lombardy region, screening for developmental dysplasia of the hip was done using the Ortolani-Barlow maneuver and ultrasonography. RESULTS: The frequency of positive results of clinical and ultrasound examinations carried out in the hospitals varied considerably as a result of difficulties in the Ortolani-Barlow test reproducibility and in the low sensitivity of the clinical examination when compared to ultrasonography

Conditions for distributed leadership practices among managers in elder- and disability care organizations: A structural equation modeling approach.

BACKGROUND: Against the backdrop of worldwide increases in life expectancy, there is a growing concern about the future of health and social care services in many countries, including Sweden. This is not least due to expected cutbacks in tax revenues and increasing staff shortages in the welfare sector. Challenges such as these have spurred leadership reforms aimed at mobilizing employee engagement and promoting job attractiveness. For instance, distributed leadership, whereby leader responsibilities are distributed and shared among team members, has gained momentum in recent decades. Neverthe

Artificial intelligence and machine learning for organizational and system-level functions in primary health care: A scoping review protocol.

OBJECTIVE: Primary health care (PHC) is the cornerstone of health systems worldwide, yet faces growing pressures from aging populations, workforce shortages, and constrained resources. While artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are increasingly used for clinical tasks such as diagnostics and decision support, their potential to address organizational and system-level processes remains underexplored. This scoping review maps AI and ML applications targeting non-clinical, organizational, and system-level functions in PHC, examining techniques employed, application purposes, dat

The challenges and opportunities of technological approaches to fatigue management.

There are a number of different strategies to mitigate the effects of fatigue in transportation and other occupational settings. Many are centered on regulatory or organizational approaches, such as work scheduling restriction and employer screening practices. While these generally benefit safety and productivity, there are clearly limitations to these approaches. Technologies that objectively detect or predict operator fatigue may be used to effectively complement or even supplant organizational or regulatory approaches. Over the past decade and a half, there have been considerable advances i

Differences in organizational impact, performance and quality related to the use of single- and/or reusable bronchoscopes in anesthesiology and resuscitation.

INTRODUCTION: The use of fibrobronchoscopy increased significantly for collecting airway microbiological samples and during percutaneous tracheostomies and difficult intubations. Reusable bronchoscopes pose risks of contamination and damage due to their fragile structure and difficulties of cleaning and sterilization; single-use bronchoscopes have been introduced, offering reliability in terms of vision, maneuverability, suctioning capacity, and sterility, reducing the risk of hospital-acquired infections and improving logistical management. METHODS: The study analyzed healthcare workers' and

Wound Care Capacity of the Addiction Workforce in the Setting of Xylazine.

OBJECTIVES: As xylazine increasingly adulterates the unregulated opioid supply, people who use drugs (PWUD) are more likely to experience sequalae from xylazine. Given xylazine exposure is consistently associated with development of wounds which can heal with medically directed wound care, we sought to understand the level of preparedness and ability of front-line addiction professionals who interact with PWUD to provide wound care treatment. METHODS: We administered a 26-item online survey assessing participant and organizational characteristics, level of wound care training, ability to test

Moreover, there is a scarcity of studies exploring factors that enhance CT management experiences worldwide and in Jordan. OBJECTIVES: The aims of this study were (1) to explore emergency health professionals' attitudes and experiences toward CT management and (2) to understand factors that affect the care for patients with CTs among emergency health professionals. METHODS: A qualitative exploratory approach was a

Factors influencing the amount of therapy received during inpatient stroke care: an analysis of data from the UK Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme.

OBJECTIVES: To understand why most stroke patients receive little therapy. We investigated the factors associated with the amount of stroke therapy delivered. METHODS: Data regarding adults admitted to hospital with stroke for at least 72 hours (July 2013-July 2015) were extracted from the UK's Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme. Descriptive statistics and multilevel mixed effects regression models explored the factors that influenced the amount of therapy received while adjusting for confounding. RESULTS: Of the 94,905 patients in the study cohort (mean age: 76 (SD: 13.2) years, 78% h
