[Human tolerance to Coriolis acceleration during exertion of different muscle groups].

The effect of an arbitrary loading of different muscle groups (shoulder, back, legs) and motor acts on the tolerance to Coriolis accelerations was investigated in 140 experiments in which 40 test subjects participated. The accelerations were cumulated and simulated by the Bryanov scheme. Muscle tension was accompanied by a less expressed vestibulo-vegetative reaction and shortening of the recovery period after the development of motion sickness symptoms. The greatest changes were observed during the performance of complex motor acts and tension of shoulder muscles. Possible mechanisms of these

Cognitive-Affective Predictors of Exertion-Related Fatigue in Primary Biliary Cholangitis: An Experimental Substudy of the SOMA.LIV Project.

PURPOSE: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a chronic autoimmune liver disease frequently accompanied by severe fatigue. This exploratory … s showed no association with fatigue. CONCLUSION: Findings suggest that fatigue responses to brief physical exertion in individuals with PBC are driven partly by cognitive-affective expectations, particularly anticipated fatigue, while fear of movement showed only a trend-level association. These results should be interpreted in light of the study's limitations, i …

Effects of repeated bouts of squatting exercise on sub-maximal endurance running performance.

It is well established that exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD) has a detrimental effect on endurance exercise performed in the days that follow. However, it is unknown whether such effects remain after a repeated bout of EIMD. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of repeated bouts of muscle-damaging exercise on sub-maximal running exercise. Nine male participants completed baseline measurements associated with a sub-maximal running bout at lactate turn point. These measurements were repeated 24-48 h after EIMD, comprising 100 squats (10 sets of 10 at 80 % body mas

Effects in elderly people 67-76 years of age of three-month endurance training on a bicycle ergometer.

Eight women and 4 men, mean age 71.1 years, examined by a clinical check-up participated in a bicycle ergometer training program (12 weeks with 3 training sessions per week). Symptom limited ergometric bicycle tests were performed before and after the training period. The training work load was continuously controlled by maintaining the training heart rate according to 60% of the maximum work load of the first test. To hold the training heart rate (HR) on a constant level the work load had to be increased systematically during the whole training period up to 180% of the level at the beginning.

[Evaluation of the physical development and adaptation capacities of the body of schoolchildren in the Ulyanovsk region].

The current environmental and socio-economic living conditions are major causes of the deterioration of the population health. The physical development of children and adolescents permits to evaluate fleeting changes in the population. There was performed the evaluation of the physical development of 1664 schoolchildren in the Ulyanovsk region. Features of the physical development, the state of autonomic tone and cardiac activity of children and adolescents residing in areas with the intense anthropogenic impact testify to the exertion of adaptation mechanisms under the influence of environmen

Validity and reliability of the Multidimensional Dyspnoea Profile in older adults.

Breathlessness is a common and distressing symptom in older adults and an independent predictor of adverse outcomes and yet its multidimensional assessment has not been validated in older adults. We apply and validate the Multidimensional Dyspnoea Profile (MDP) in a sample of adults 75 years and older in Belgium. Breathlessness was rated with the MDP, the modified Borg Dyspnoea Scale (mBDS), the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB, a numerical rating scale for intensity and unpleasantness both before and after exertion), as well as with the Medical Research Council (MRC) Dyspnoea Scale. Work-related risk factors for lateral epicondylitis and other cause of elbow pain in the working population.

BACKGROUND: This study was designed to assess the relationship between work-related combined physical and psychosocial factors and elbow dis … s index (>25), and low social support (only for men) were significant risks factors. Hard perceived physical exertion combined with elbow flexion/extension (>2 hr/day) and wrist bending (>2 hr/day) was a strong significant risk factor for elbow pain and epicondylitis: among men, adjusted Odds Ratio (ORa) = 2.6 (1.9-3.7) and ORa = 5.6 (2.8-11.3), respectively; among …
