5 patients are described in which normal pressure hydrocephalus was diagnosed. The criteria on which the diagnosis was based were a cerebrospinal fluid perfusion test and an air study. Pathological verification was additionally obtained in 2 patients. The clinical picture in all patients was characterized by dementia. 4 patients were incontinent and 3 were paraspastic.

Two cases of spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage in adolescent girls suspected of having multiple sclerosis are reported. Surgical evacuation of haematomas in the left thalamus and left side of the pons, respectively, was performed with excellent recovery in both cases. Some clinical and pathological aspects of small arteriovenous malformations are discussed and the pertinent literature reviewed.

Based on literature of the last 30 years we present the current view concerning diagnosis of the communicating hydrocephalus. Till now various methods of the assessment of hydrocephalus have been used in order to select patients for shunt treatment. No single factor, considered apart from the other diagnostic criteria, is sufficient to undertake the decision of shunting. Forty cases with several forms of spinocerebellar degenerations were studied. The diagnosis was based on an appropriate clinical picture, radiological investigation and family history. There are multiple variants of spinocerebellar degeneration and classification of these diseases remains unsatisfactory and therefore controversial. We classified cases into three main groups. Five patients exhibited an apparently communicating hydrocephalus -- type of disorder, with ventricular reflux on the cisternograms, lack of air-encephalographic parasagittal air-filling and clearly enlarged temporal horns.
