AIM: To investigate ex vivo the influence of the post system on fracture resistance and failure mode of root filled incisor, canine, premolar and molar teeth.
METHODOLOGY: Eighty human teeth were divided into eight groups (n = 10) resulting from the interaction between the two study factors: post system (glass fibre post; cast Ni-Cr alloy post and core) and type of tooth (maxillary incisors, maxillary canines, maxillary premolars and mandibular molars). All roots were prepared with a 2-mm ferrule and restored with metal crown. Fracture resistance (N) was assessed in a mechanical testing devic

BACKGROUND: Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) is a painful condition secondary to bisphosphonate (BP) therapy. It occurs at a much higher rate in patients receiving intravenous (IV) versus oral BP treatment. BPs are prescribed in the treatment of bone diseases such as osteoporosis, multiple myeloma, cancer metastases and Paget disease. Patients' risk of developing ONJ is of concern to medical and dental teams alike and requires open communication between the disciplines. If dental surgery is indicated, it must be performed before commencement of IV BP therapy, and it should be considered for pati

This report describes the clinical procedures involved in the treatment of a complicated crown-root fracture in the maxillary left central incisor with a wide open apex of a 10-year-old male patient, due to fall from his own height. Post-trauma treatment comprised cervical pulpotomy and adhesive tooth fragment reattachment. After 1 year, clinical and radiograph examinations showed pulp necrosis and an associated periapical lesion. Endodontic therapy with calcium hydroxide-base intracanal dressing, root canal filling and orthodontic extrusion were performed. Extrusion was completed within appro

The biologic width includes both the connective tissue attachment and the junctional epithelium and has a mean dimension of approximately 2 mm. Invading the biologic width with a restoration can result in localized crestal bone loss, gingival recession, localized gingival hyperplasia, or a combination of these three. When restoring teeth that have subgingival caries or fractures below the gingival attachment, a clinical crown-lengthening procedure is needed to establish the biologic width. This article presents three case reports that utilized crown-lengthening procedures.

Vertical root fractures lead to advanced periodontal breakdown with deep periodontal pockets and vertical bone defects. The purpose of this study is to evaluate clinically the periodontal healing of root fracture treatment using adhesive resin cement. In 22 patients, 23 teeth with vertical root fractures were treated with 4-META/MMA-TBB resin cement. Eleven fractured roots were bonded through the root canal (group A) and 12 fractured roots were bonded extra-orally and replanted (group B). All teeth were then restored with full cast crowns (n=20) or coping (n=3). Mean probing depth was 6.6 mm a

BACKGROUND: Although clustering techniques are commonly used in bibliometric analysis to identify research themes, few studies systematically assign these themes back to individual articles. This gap limits the interpretability of findings and hinders granular, article-level longitudinal analysis.
OBJECTIVE: This study introduces the Theme Assignment Algorithm for Articles (TAAA), a data-driven framework designed to map clustered themes to individual publications. We demonstrate its utility by identifying dominant research patterns and thematic shifts within JMIR Aging.
METHODS: TAAA was app

Autogenous tooth fragment bonding offers advantages over restorations with composite resins and porcelain, including better esthetics, greater durability, reestablishment of the natural function of the dental element and short execution time. A case is presented of a 14-year-old male patient who suffered an oblique crown fracture of the permanent right maxillary central incisor (11) due to a traumatic fall. The clinical examination revealed pulp exposure with no invasion of the biological space. Due to the extension of the fracture, endodontic treatment and the placement of an intra-root esthe

The loss of an entire tooth in the anterior region is accompanied by impairment of esthetics, function, phonetics, and self-esteem. It is common knowledge that treatment with implants during childhood or early adolescence is not an option. Splinting of adjacent teeth during growth and development may interfere with the independent process of teeth realignment and repositioning during that phase of life. Other creative solutions must be offered, such as free-standing composite buildup restorations on compromised broken teeth or single wing/cantilevered restorations adhered to one neighboring to

The purpose of this in vitro study is to assess the bond strength of three different posts used to restore primary anterior teeth. These posts were made by composite resin, 0.7 mm alpha-shaped orthodontic wire and dentin posts. Thirty roots of extracted primary anterior teeth, with initial physiological resorption, were mounted in a container filled with self cured resin and were endodontically treated Thirty posts were prepared using three different materials: 10 composite resin posts (Z100), 10 alpha-shaped orthodontic wire and 10 dentin posts. A bulk of composite resin (Z100) was made over

BACKGROUND: Studies examining machine perfusion (MP) in liver transplantation (LT) report variable post-transplant outcomes, making comparison difficult. Core outcome sets (COS) with standardized definitions and specified time points have been proposed to mitigate this variability. This study explores the quality of outcome reporting in studies with MP in LT.
METHODS: We conducted a systematic review examining outcome reporting within MP LT studies. PubMed, Embase and Ovid Medline were queried for studies examining perfusion techniques from January 1st 2018 to June 1st 2025. Articles that rep

Polymeric composites reinforced with short or continuous carbon fibers offer exceptional mechanical and tribological properties that outperform their unfilled counterparts. The combination of these excellent properties with the possibility to manufacture custom-made composites with complex shapes and geometry is unique; therefore, additive manufacturing has recently emerged as an intriguing manufacturing technique combining these two features. Specifically, Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) has attracted significant academic and industrial attention owing to its operational simplicity, cost-eff

Contemporary psychosurgery is increasingly regarded less as an invasive surgical discipline and more as a circuit-based medicine. This narrative critical review traces the evolution from the extensive frontal lesions of the early twentieth century to contemporary techniques, in which focal ablation and reversible neuromodulation form part of a shared therapeutic armamentarium. Building on the classical history-from trephinations and lobotomies to stereotaxy-we outline a functional neuroanatomical framework that integrates thelimbic system, basal ganglia, prefrontal cortex, and monoaminergic sy

BACKGROUND: Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography (AEMUS) has become a recognized subspecialty within Emergency Medicine, yet no unified national curriculum or assessment framework exists for fellowship training. As competency-based medical education develops, entrustable professional activities (EPAs) offer a structured approach to defining essential tasks, guiding curriculum design, and standardizing assessment. To support high-quality, equitable AEMUS fellowship training, the Education Committee of the Society of Clinical Ultrasound Fellowships (SCUF) convened a diverse expert panel t

Poststroke neuroinflammation exacerbates disease progression. [11C]PK11195-positron emission tomography (PET) imaging has been used to visualize neuroinflammation; however, its short half-life of 20 min limits its clinical use. [123I]CLINDE has a longer half-life (13h); therefore, [123I]CLINDE-single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging is potentially more practical than [11C]PK11195-PET imaging in clinical settings. The objectives of this study were to 1) validate neuroinflammation imaging using [123I]CLINDE and 2) investigate the mechanisms underlying stroke in association wit

BACKGROUND: Impaired trunk control is a critical contributor to poststroke disability, as it undermines balance, mobility, and independence. Core stability exercises (CSEs) improve trunk function; however, their efficacy may be limited by post-stroke reductions in cortical excitability. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive neuromodulation technique that enhances neuroplasticity and may potentiate the effects of rehabilitation. OBJECTIVE: To determine whether combining tDCS with CSEs improves trunk control, balance, and functional independence in chronic stroke survi
